Got your message - went back through all my paperwork and it doesn't say what the nutrition goals are longer term. While investigating surgery in Mexico, I purchased Dr. Alvarez's eBook and it was really helpful in understanding what was needed forever. So, I guess that is where I got an understanding of what the protein goals were and the timing of food/drink, vitamins, etc. If you don't have a copy, it's a really valuable resource. Also, you could contact Dr. Miranda and request that from her. I email her from time to time with random questions. Hope you are doing well! Shelley

Hi! Sorry, I am new here and didn't see the message until today. I guess you may only get this after your surgery, so all the best to you! It was an excellent experience for me, and I have no regrets whatsoever. The first few weeks post-op were definitely the hardest, and I found myself getting dehydrated. I'd wake up in the morning with a pasty mouth and I'm pretty sure I wasn't far away from being admitted to the hospital here at home for dehydration. You HAVE to sip sip sip water, and it's hard, because you also have to eat, well, drink your food for your nutrients. I also got wicked heartburn at first even though I was already on Ranitidine. The antacids provided by OCC didn't help at all, and when I got back home my doctor put me on Omeprazole. I haven't had a single instance of heartburn since. It would happen even with water, never mind anything else! I found some great soup recipes and bought one of those hand blenders and pureed the crap out of them. There's a great recipe for lentil and carrot soup on the Kraft Canada site. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll see if I can find it again. Lentils are high in protein so I could almost feel the nutrients seeping through my body.
