Hi there Jen. The sleeve was the best thing I have ever done for my body. The Dr. didnt want to operate on me as I was not "big" enough at 87kg but I convinced him after showing him my diary. I had kept it for about 5 years and it showed all I had done to try and lose weight. I am only 5` 2" so for me being over weight was a huge problem. I had no pain after the operation as my tummy was numb from a tummy tuck I had a few years ago. My only problem was I woke up with a migrain. My hubby was not happy about my decision but I KNOW he is more than happy with the results. I have gone from a size 16 / 18 down to 10 / 12 so I am a happy girl. Good luck. Let me know how it goes. Dr. Armstrong reminds me of Hugh Grant...especially when he talks. LoL. xxxcoralxxx

Thank you! I feel Fabulous! I have no regrets about my decision. I would do it again in a heart beet. I am not afraid of gaining it back. 1) my surgeon said its possible to gain weight but your stomach will never be able to hold that much food again, so if you don't drink your calories and make healthier eating choices you will never put the weight back on. 2) I have figured out I'm worth it! I made this decision because I want to be healthy! I want to live a long life and someday when I have grand children I want to be around to watch them grow up. 3) my gym is my new BFF. When I'm upset, stressed etc.. Hit the gym and not the fridge. It's amazing! I always say for every pound I loose I gain a pound of confidence! My self esteem has sky rocketed and I know life will be amazing! I look forward to what each new day brings and know I have the strength to tackle any issues that arise! This by far has been the best decision I ever made!

Hi, yea i started trying to lose weight a few months prior to surgery...i had to wait a while till my health insurance covered the op so i had a bit of time up my sleeve (big sleeve) lol The op went well, 2 nights in hospital with minimal pain just a bit of gas pain stuff but every day seems to be getting better..I have my 2 week check up with the surgeon next week so I will have to wait to see what he says but all good so far. The liquids are doing my head in a bit because the optifast drinks i have turned off big time yet prior to surgery they were my life saver..go figure...xxxx How are you doing?

Hey there absolutely my pleasure ! Thank you so much that is so lovely ! No way that's awesome I love Subi it's so nice ! I work in West Perth so just around the corner.
I did about the surgery itself ...I checked a lot of information online and ummm and ahhh about it for ages
But my lapband was giving me mega grief and I knew once I had it out I had to do something before I put even more weight on ..it didn't take long before that started happening ..I must admit the before and after pics on here really help
Once you meet the right surgeon you will know its right.
Happy to keep I'm touch and let you know how it all goes
    Hugs

Hi Truebody I've decided on Dr Harsha Chantratra at Murdoch, I was going to see Dr Watson because I heard he was good too, but I also heard he prefers banding as sleeves are permanent and he would prefer to wait and see if something better comes out. I just want to go in and get what I have decided on. Anyhow I'll let you know how I go.

There's a person called Pip who hangs on this forum and she's from Perth - she'll be having surgery next month I think. I am also from Perth originally but now live in the UK. Good luck!

Hey Truebody, things were pretty tough post-sleeve as I had a band (actually 2 bands previously when one slipped they took it out and replaced it with a new one which caused other issues) and because of the mess left in my abdomen surgery took 8 hours! Was in hospital for a week with NGT in central line. But I am very happy with the sleeve, so far no where near as many problems as the band was. If you don't have a band, from my experience don't get one, get the sleeve. I know it seems like the easier less invasive option but really if you are wanting to lose weight you don't want the option of putting it back on. Do some research though. My weight has been a little slower than some, have lost 20kg in 3 months, some lose a lot more than that but it is not that unusual if you have had a band previously to lose weight slower, metabolism already stuffed or just body is used to less food, not sure. If you have any other questions feel free to send me a message. At 3 months out I am very happy with my sleeve

Well - it is a year today. What a difference a year makes.

by Truebody on 05-10-2014 at 01:42 PM
May 10 will forever be a day to remember for me. The single most important day in my life.
I've gone from being a whisker over 101kgs to 65.2kgs today. That's a huge difference. Every part of my life has been impacted - and it is all good.
I don't miss anything at all.
My bra size is now a 10G. I wear small tops and size 12 pants. Most of my shoes needed to be chucked out as my feet were smaller.
I love my exercise routine. No more slogging away on treadmills or x-trainers,

Got myself a new bra.

by Truebody on 10-12-2013 at 10:00 AM
After a week of feeling most uncomfortable I took myself off for a bra fitting. I've gone from an 18F to a 12H. So my boobs are basically the same size, but I've lost the padding around the chest and back so now there is a marked difference between the two.

The other things I bought... A Sportscraft shirt in a size 12! Normal sized fitness pants and 3 t- shirts designed specifically for fitness workouts and one is a small!

Absolutely amazing and cannot wait to try

My Skinny Jeans fit

by Truebody on 08-31-2013 at 04:47 AM
Now not all my skinny pants fit, but the ones when I was an 'OK' size fit and are in fact just a little roomy in some spots.
How good is THAT!!

A little WooHoo

by Truebody on 06-22-2013 at 01:29 AM
It's 6 weeks today and I think I'm past my stall. Huge relief about that.
So 6 weeks out I'm down 10 kilos exactly and I'm feeling good.
