I haven't checked in awhile. I hope all is well. I do live about 15 minutes from Olathe in Overland Park. Update me on how you're doing. I am great; can't wait for soft foods week 3!

I feel good. I have had 26 grams of protein. I can sleep in my own bed. I am very happy. When do you start full liquids?

Thanks. I went to DR. today. All is well, he thinks I got the stomach flu from my daughter the day of surgery. He gave more Zofram and said to be patient. Not much protein today but maybe 10 grams. Thats better than yesterday. I will be better tomorrow too I guess. I need to learn to be patient. I am thrilled for you. Its sounds like you are doing great. We will have to compare notes for inspiration.

Thanks rn2babes! I am home and no meds required except nausea meds. I do have to stay pretty close to the bathroom as I can't seem to hold anything for long. I also had a hernia repaired I didn't know I had. How are you doing? I will look forward to tracking our journey!

    Aloha!
Everything is going great! I am learning what works and what doesnt for my little mini tummy. I went back to work on Feb 4th but decided after the week was over that I needed another week off. I am returning again to work this morning. Super thrilled with the results. I know that I have made a life changing and saving decision to get the sleeve. Life is good! Aloha!

hi there sorry for the late reply....i'm currently 3 weeks post op and doing great, i had a pretty fast recovery still on the pureed food stage which isn't as bad as the liquid part. how about u? did you get a date?

I'm taking 2 weeks off but I'm trying to get people to respond to my post. I want to know if that is enough time. Everyone says they are taking 1-2 weeks off but I want to know how they felt AFTER they returned to work in that time. Was it enough time?? It's fine to PLAN to take a certain time off but what do we REALLY need? That is what I'm trying to find out! Anyone can say, yeah I'm going back to work in x amount of time but will they pass out from dehyration or lack of food? I work 12 hour shifts.

Aloha! Yes feels good to be home! I am settling in with my new tummy (named her "Minny"). She and I are both feeling great!
I made my final decision to self pay in Mexico last November after being told by Kaiser, that the waitlist in Hawaii was well over a year. This was after waiting 2 months for the consult! I have a rare kidney disease that requires me to get to a healthy weight but not even the transplant patients in Hawaii can get moved up on the list. I did my research and then selected my surgeon and location. I decided that having a lil vacay at the same time was essential! I have a super stressful job and needed the break! I padded my trip to PV with a few preop days and a few post op days. The hospital was pristine, the care impeccable, the surgeon skilled and tender. The surgery went well, but I had a rough patch post op. I had pain and nausea/vomit/hiccup issues that took a bit to get managed. It was NO BUENO! Even though I am an RN, I had never had surgery myself before. It passed by the next morning and i was up and walking with my fellow surgery buddy. Since then, I am following all recommendations..resting, walking, sipping, taking my vitamins, leaning on my support system, and most importantly- doing my spiritual/ gratitude work. That's my scoop! Welcome!! Hope your having fun doing the research on the gastric sleeve.its been the best decision I ever made for myself and recommend it to anyone that's battling the same issues of weight, health problems, confidence issues and so on..ultimately, it is however just a tool to help you achieve your goals but requires some work and determination on your part to be a success..best of luck on whatever your decision is and feel free to ask anything.....

Where did the time go?

by rn2babes on 11-22-2015 at 06:43 PM
I'm here, nearly 2 1/2 years after my sleeve, and couldn't be happier. I've had a fantastic experience without complications. My weight has been virtually unchanged for over a year now. 144-146. I eat what I want, but still pay close attention to quantity and how my body feels.

My exercise habits aren't so good these days. I have a many excuses, and they're valid, but I could do more.

I think I finally am over the fat tapes in my mind. I'm a thin person. I can bend

One year plus 19 days, late again.

by rn2babes on 06-16-2014 at 03:14 PM
May 28th, 2013, what a lifetime ago!

I remember so well, my daily obsession with this website. I was on here daily (more than once daily) gathering information, reading blogs, profiles, asking questions, for months before my surgery. My thought was that I'd just keep getting information even though I wasn't sure I'd follow through with having surgery. But I figured, when I knew, I'd know. And at least I'd have the information I needed to make a good decision. It was a good plan.

I have lost track of time, and that must be a good thing

by rn2babes on 01-19-2014 at 03:33 AM
I'm just shy of 8 months post-op. Somehow, I forgot to blog at the ever important 6 month mark, then month 7 (Christmas is to blame) just blasted by.

I've just come from a big 60th birthday party for a very dear co-worker. I had to go shopping because up to now, I've only bought a few pair of jeans, and some tops. I need a party outfit. My friend recommended White House/Black Market. I have never bought anything for myself in that store; for my daughter, yes, but I can't wear clothes

5 months, an amazing journey.

by rn2babes on 10-28-2013 at 02:08 PM
Today marks 5 months since my sleeve surgery.

I spent the last 4 days in Disneyland with my husband and our 3 year old granddaughter. We had a fabulous time! Some things that really stood out to me. First of all, on the first few rides, as I was getting on the ride I had that thought "oh, I hate how tight these rides feel", but then I sat down, had the bar pulled down, and tada!, no tightness! In fact, we took our granddaughter on the kiddie rides, and I was so excited

4 months today!

by rn2babes on 09-28-2013 at 10:52 PM
I can't imagine how I let myself be nearly 60 lbs heavier than I am right now. As of this morning, I'm down 59 lbs from the beginning of this journey (49 since surgery, 10 before). I feel great.

My husband and I went with another couple on vacation; have only been back 6 days. We drove from Fresno to Phoenix, to Mexico, back to Phoenix, to Sedona, to the Grand Canyon, to Vegas, back home. All over 10 days. It was amzing. Aside from the obvious greatness of the vacation, here are
