The surgery went well. I woke up with a TERRIBLE gas pain and threw up but then I got medication for both and went back to sleep. Throughout the night I got better and stronger. I have been walking and taking my Gas X Strips. My husband has been so supportive and helpful! I can't text or call out from my phone but am getting texts. I met a lady and her son from Louisiana; we had our surgeries on the same day. So, now we are sleeve buddies! It has been great having her here and comparing notes.
Hi all!
I have not posted much but have been reading your questions and advice EVERY day! My surgery is in 2 weeks on 8/22 with Dr. Kelly. I originally chose a different doctor but finally decided on Dr. Kelly after more research. He has already called me and we talked for quite awhile. He answered all of my questions and has put me at ease!
I have chosen to do a two week liquid diet and am hoping that I (and my liver!) will be in the best shape possible for surgery.
Just ran across this website on another forum:

It is really very helpful and answered a lot of questions I have and I know others are having! Hope it helps!
My surgery date is 8/22 (next month!) and I just bought the plane tickets for myself and the hubby! I read on one of the blogs that a nonstop flight home was better...which of course, makes sense but I wouldn't have thought about that myself. I would have just taken the first flight home.
My surgery will be on a Wednesday and they said I will be able to fly home on Saturday but there aren't any nonstop flights are available on Southwest that afternoon. We are going to stay Saturday
OK, I think I have down the major things to watch out for after surgery. I have seen hair loss talked about and have read a couple of posts regarding hair coloring is probably not a good idea BUT...is anyone out there coloring their hair after surgery? I have 2 months before my surgery and am going to go color my hair today. I am naturally dark brown but have been a lighter brown to dark blode before. The roots are mostly coming in gray now ( I'm only 48!) and don't want to be gray yet!!!!
