Hi,

I created this group for sleevers and people considering gastric sleeve who also have kidney disease. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune kidney disease in 2008.

My journey to this point has been a roller coaster. When I was first diagnosed, I was in complete shock. I felt fine! At the same time, I was already over weight and I continued to gain a few pounds every year.

Fortunately, my kidney labs remain normal to this date. But my experiences made me realize how valuable life is. I knew my weight increased my likelyhood of other illness and disease on top of kidney disease. I realized that should my kidneys fail, I would not be considered a candidate for transplant.

Surgery, after everything else scared me out of my mind but I was completely commited.

I came through fine and am now on my weightloss journey.

Anyway, if there are other people with gastric sleeve and kidney disease... here is a place for us to meet!
