I work full time and only have about 2 vacation days saved up so I can't use those for time off. I want to request two weeks off for medical leave but I'm worried they will ask for a doctor's note or some sort of proof. Has anyone had to deal with this? Thanks

I told them I was having stomach surgery and had to apply for FMLA. Dr Almanza's office did the paperwork with no problems.

I put in unpaid time off request and when I did, I put a note in there that I was having surgery. My boss asked me to get a letter from my doctor so I requested one from weightlossagents.com and they faxed it over to him the same day. I would recommend telling your work as far in advance as possible. You don't have to be specific about the type of surgery if you don't want and the only person that really needs to know is your boss!
