13 Months Post Op, 9 Weeks Pregnant AND...

Rate this Entry
Hello fellow sleeve members! It's been a month since I last posted telling you all that I was expecting our third child! It's been a month full of nausea, but managed easily with meds. Thank heavens! Something that scared me the most was that I was nauseous for months after my surgery and I was scared to feel that again. I'm on Phenegran and it works well for me.

So onto the BIG NEWS!!!!!!

I was up all Sunday night with cramping. No spotting, just uncomfortable cramps. I was scheduled to see the OB on Thursday for a routine first appt with ultra sound, but after talking to them yesterday morning they bumped me to that morning in case I was having complications.

During the ultra sound we couldn't see the monitor while the doctor watched. She gave the nurse a look, who leaned forward to check the monitor, then looked at the doctor. I had this sad feeling that something was wrong. She said well we know why your cramping...there's TWO babies in there fighting for space!!!!!! We are expecting IDENTICAL twins!! We are in complete shock! No hormones or IVF and we naturally conceived in one month of trying with twins!! We see a specialist tomorrow to check everything out more thoroughly. We will meet with a nutritionist as well so I can learn how to not only increase my calories for one baby but for two! They said I'll be on special drinks like Ensure to insure extra calories since I'm still very restricted.

Anyways, what a crazy past 24 hours it's been!!! We feel blessed, scared, excited, all of the above!

Congrats!! I have 2 questions since I plan on having another child. 1st what did the doctor say about you getting pg after 1 year? I was told to wait at least 18 months. 2nd did you meet your goal weight before getting pg? Just curious because I can't wait but I'm only 3 months post op and 25lbs to my goal weight.

I was encouraged to wait a year. I haven't reached my final "goal" weight, but when I lost 150 pounds I was very happy. With extra skin and muscle tone I've added I'm not sure how low I'd actually get. I think waiting until a year to 18 months is really smart. I feel at this point I've got a great control of my eating and control and that'll be crucial this pregnancy. AND for continued success afterwards.
