    Default Getting sick

OK-I am 10weeks post op. Shakes go down great. Most things do. Seems like about 1-2 times a week meat or something just doesn't stay down. And it is happens pretty fast. Comes right back up. One day something will be good and not so much the next. I never know what will stay down and what won't. Could it be I am still eating to fast? (a problem I have had for 51 years!)This is the only problem I have. I feel great, have no pain, am losing. Should I be worried? Are there others out there that still get sick

I still get sick on occasion (at least once a week) and I know that everytime it's because I ate too fast and, because I'm eating too fast, I'm not listening to my pouch and I take that one bite too many. If I think back, it is always with meat. Meat is heavy on the tummy and I know for me I need to slow down, chew more and wait between mouthfuls.

I'm kinda going back to basics so today's protein was 86gms which was 2 x protein shakes at 20gms each, pea soup @ 10gms, cheese stick 8gms, beef jerky (sitting a bit heavy on me) 14gms, 1/2 cup skim milk (in my tea about 3 or 4 cups or so of tea) 4gms, deli turkey 10gms.

Even the deli turkey is heavy for me as far as protein is concerned but I can't do more than 2 shakes a day. I've ordered the Chike individual serving protein powder so then I can get more variety in my flavors. If you haven't tried them you can order free samples for $6.95 shipping. They are really yummy. I just ordered the orange cream, strawberry and the banana. The calories are a little high but they have 28gms of protein and low carb. Because of all my intestinal/digestive issues, I'm going to keep it as liquid as I can stand it to be with shakes and soups.

When I eat too fast or take that one bite too many...up it comes. I am a work in progress. Old habits are hard to break!

I still get sick about 2 to 3 times a week too. And didn't realize till I read this, but it is also always with meat. Chicken seems to be the worst, then beef. Talked to my doc about it and she said the same thing, eating to fast and not chewing enough. Also said that if the meat is too dry it can cause puking also. Something to do with the way it digests and moves in new stomach. And that some stuff that I ate today, I may not be able to tolerate tomorrow. Really trying to slowdown, eat slower, and chew-chew-chew. I truly believe that this journey we are on is going to take time to learn everything we need to learn, so we shouldn't be hard on ourselves when we do something wrong. Keep up the good work and everything will work itself out.
