Smile Any new habits after the sleeve?

After getting sleeved, have you started any new healthy habits or returned to old healthy habits that you had before obesity? I used to jog, especially on Saturday mornings. It used to be my "thing". I would clear my mind of anything that would bother me, pray, think about goals I'd like to set, etc... I would wake up early, while my husband slept, run seven miles and make it back home before he ever got out of bed. It was so freeing.
I quit running after I had babies, quit my job, and started gaining weight. I feel "weighed down" when I attempt to run. I know it will be hard getting re-started, but I think that some weight loss would do worlds of good. Sometimes when I sleep, I dream about running. If I could lose weight, running will be at the top of the list of the things that I want to do, along with crossing my legs, taking a yoga class, buying skinny clothes, etc...
Have you done anything new or returned to old behaviors?

Well, the weather around here in NJ (very cold and LOTS of snow this winter) caused me to ask my husband to set up our treadmill. And yes, I am on the treadmill about three times a week these days. And I started back up at the gym, so have been doing cardio on the recumbent bike a couple times a week there, plus some work with the bicep and tricep weight machines. I couldn't do anything with core muscles for the first six weeks past surgery, but got a full release from my surgeon last week (tomorrow marks seven weeks for me). So today, I met with my trainer and got a new workout routine. I'm excited to not only get the weight off, but also to build muscle and firm up skin so it doesn't get too flabby. And another good habit I've started is in the evening, watching TV, when I used to crave a desert (and have one), I now have a cup of tea. It's just as satisfying. Best of luck to you!
    Diane

Well, I have become a gym freak...I can die if I am not able to hit the gym one day.
2 weeks ago I wasn't able to go 2 days because I had to work late and even though my gym closes at 10pm I was making it home past 11pm, so what I do now, which is the biggest sacrifice for me in this life...is that if I have a feeling that I won't be able to make home in time because the days seem to be very busy at work, I wake up at 5 am and hit the gym before going to work, that way I don't feel bad if I have to stay working late.
Additionally, I've always loved shopping, but now I love it even more!!! so, loosing weight will cost you a lot because you will have to renew your wardrobe frequently...this is the best part and my favorite

Many things have changed for me. I now read labels on the things that I am considering eating. I order from the children's menu when possible. I am feeling more comfortable with telling people about the surgery. Actually I feel more comfortable with explaining that it is a tool not a miracle. I am trying to develope patience with the scales. Understanding that inches are more important than what the scales show. The scales are fickle. ha ha not my friend always ha ha. I was on a plateau for 2 weeks (I was six weeks out of surgery as of last Thursday). I am beginning to get a few compliments and they are so appreciated. I gave my sister clothes that I had not outgrown but undergrown ha ha. She is scheduled for surgery April 5th. So I will have a partner to go on this journey with. Back to the question: I have also begun journeling my foods. The reason is that I want to understand what I am eating and the calories, carbs, fats, protein value. I do not understand how you can do this without journeling (old weight watcher habits I guess). I have just last week meet with the exercise physiologist at the fitness center at work and made a plan for me. We start on Monday. I am really excited about that. Good luck. Best advice I can give: Take this journey seriously. take responsibility of yourself. There is no going back to the old self for me. I choose a new path -- a path to good health.

You're so right Pat! I forgot to mention that I am keeping a food journal as well. I use FitDay - Free Weight Loss and Diet Journal every day; it makes it easy to keep track of calories, protein, carbs, fat, and other nutrients. You can also use it to track your exercise, but I only use it for the food. It is a real eye-opener!

I went and got 1 new complete outfit last week and it felt SO GOOD!! I was not wanting to go get any new clothes till I had to because of the expense. Let me tell you, go its worth it!! I had the best time shopping, and I have not enjoyed clothes shopping in a very long time!! I was getting close to being 3x and in some was 3x, I can now fit in XL and 1XL and they looked good! I went to work and got so many compliments, they did not relize how much I had lost because I was wearing those Loose clothes. I am a happy camper and getting happier every pound lost!!

I'm totally with you Lorrie! It's good to get out of the baggy clothes and into something that fits and shows how much weight you've lost...Let the compliments roll! No, we aren't yet where we are going to be in six more months or so, but it sure helps to feel motivated to look good and get the gasps and compliments. I have been having women compliment me a lot at work, but last week I wore a dress and there were numerous men who had great things to say. It felt mighty good. Fortunately, I went into this with three different sizes of clothes filling up my multiple closets. Now, I'm wearing the smallest size I had in inventory, so I need to start some serious shopping or else everything will be baggy!

Good for you. But don't be to quick to load up on a smaller size. I ended up having
to toss brand new clothes as I went down in the sizes. 1x was like 'now I have
arrived I can stock up now' NOT!
At one point my wife gave me a Large to try on at Disney World. I cried in the
dressing room when it fit. Now that shirt is too big, but I am not in a hurry to part with
    it.

I LOVE it when a man cries and admits it, ESPECIALLY over new clothes. LOL! Absolutely wonderful! If/when I get into a size large again, I don't know WHAT I'll do!
