    Unhappy feeling pretty down...........

I'm a week today post op, and I stepped on the scale at my docs office today and have not lost an ounce. What the hell??????????? Its not like I'm eating pizza. I barely take in any fats or sugars, mostly what I'm getting is protein. i'm so disgusted. My stomach growls all the time, like its hungry, and I was told I wouldn't feel hunger anymore. I'm feel really confused and sad, and just don't know if all the pain was worth it now. I thought this would be the best decision I had ever made, but nothing is happening for me but pain.

I'm sorry you are feeling this way Trina. =( You do have to remember though that generally when your body stops getting everything that you use to give it, it goes into shock and thinks you are starving so it holds onto everything you put into it until it realizes that it needs to use all the fuel you already have stored up (fat).

Just keep with it and I'm sure you'll get through this hurdle and be happy on the other side. =)

    Hi Trina,
Keep doing what you're supposed to do - the weight loss will come. My stomach growled like crazy for the first week, but when I really thought about it, I wasn't actually hungry. Sometimes we just need to stop and think about our next move so we can make positive changes on this journey.

Yes, the whole hunger thing is weird. I get way more hungry now than I ever did prior to the sleeve, but then I am eating way less food. I probably don't eat enough and/or let myself go too long without eating. But, I DO get hungry. You WILL lose the weight!!! Just relax and focus on your fluid intake and protein intake. It will happen!!!

Could be fluid shifting from the 2 bags of saline you received at the hospital. Don't be so hard on yourself. Some people come out of the hospital 5 lbs heavier and it takes a couple of weeks to get rid of itd. You will see the numbers.....be patient grasshopper.

I completely understand the frustration. Everyone is dropping 20lbs and I have lost 5lbs. In 10 days. I wanted to cry and scream and started regretting this. But I have read and heard to be patient that things are still adjusting and that it will happen. I know I have lost inches (I don't measure myself) only because my wedding rings are rolling around my fingers. They haven't done that in years and years so I have to be lighter based on that right even if the scale likes to continuing on lying to me. Hang in there and know you are not alone.

Hang in there! This is the fear that I have, that I'll be the one person who doesn't loose weight. But as others have said, it takes a while for the body to adjust. There is swelling after surgery and the body is just thrown out of whack. It will happen, over time.

REALLY No one loses weight the first week.. your body is so pissed off at you right now and is resisting the new regime... Once it gets out of shock... which takes longer than a week... watch out... here comes the big #'s. Try and get your protein in to keep your lean muscle. Its not a race its a marathon

yes don't be discouraged i haven't lost anything either!! I think i'm still retaining a lot of the fluid from the hospital, my rings still don't fit. However, i still feel good. I also think our bodies think they are starving so for a little bit here they are holding on to the calories. i don't know what your eatting habits were prior to surgery, but i ate what i wanted when i wanted, so my body never had to worry about calories. now all the sudden i'm lucky if i get 500 in.

I felt the same way after my sleeve 1/4/11, but I think it was just being swollen, extra fliud... all of the sudden I lost alot of weight, and now I have lost well over 100 lbs. I can eat anything I want, I have never vomited or been sick, off my bp meds... lost 12 sizes! Be patient... this is the best thing you ever done.
