    Default Pain Around Incisions?

Is anyone experiencing pain around your incisions? I'm 23 days post op and had my staples removed around 14 days. Just last night I started to experience some sharp pains around a couple of my incisions. I noticed that it feels a little hard under the surface of my skin. It only hurts when I lay down on my side. Could it be tissue that is healing and is being stretched apart inside?

Mine was the same way. Not sure what it was...but it eventually goes away.

Mine did that as well, my doctor said that those incisions are healing and the nerves are trying to find their way back together.

I am 5 weeks out. I went through many phases. I also had a pulling sensation across abdomen and especially when I laid on my side. The surgeon said that it was the ligaments that were passed through and all part of the healing process. I have started applying cream on laparoscope sites twice a day and rubbing gently. It is really looking good and I believe I will not have much of any scars. hopefully. My abdomen is still sensative even 5 weeks out. Be extra careful not to lift anything over 10 lbs until 8 weeks out. at least that is what I was instructed

I still have sharp pain under my diaphram on my left side whenever I take a deep breath. My doctor said it's most likely just some extra fluid that the body will absorb in time. (He didn't say how much time...maybe I should have pressed?)

I had a similar experience. I called into my doctor and they said that if it was just red but not "oozing", to put a hot compress on it for a bit. Essentially, that will either draw infection out if there is, (force it to start to ooze) or relieve any other issues that may be there (tight ligaments, etc). In my case, slight infection. Even then, they looked at it, and just told me to keep it clean and let it clear itself up.

I just talked to my Dr and he said it is normal and they call it a Healing Ridge.

This is what I found on the internet, hope it helps everyone.

It is normal for the incision to be hard and swollen after surgery. This is called a "healing ridge" and and it is a signal of wound healing. It is not a hernia and it will go away in 8-12 weeks.

You will notice a lump develop in the area of surgery that gets larger for a few days after surgery. This is called the healing ridge and is normal. You may also notice some discoloration of your incision. This is from blood that is left in the tissues and is no cause for concern…
