i'm tired of jello, popsicles, chicken and beef broth. i'm only on day 5...and i have another 9 days to go.
think i'd be okay with tomato soup?
I drank it a couple times, but I felt like it had more carbs than I wanted to waste. I'm kinda funny about the carb thing though! Not a huge fan of tomato soup either, but I think it would be ok!
You should be fine with tomato soup until you go to clear liquids.
Tomato soup is not good..way too much acid and way to high in sugar....chicken noodle or low sodium squash was my choice. I think it's made by V8 and it's in a box soup container.
Whether you do the tomato soup before or after surgery, may I make a suggestion? I can take or leave tomato soup but I found at Walmart a tomato bisque soup by Campbell or Walmart brand. It seems to be smoother and I love the taste. It has become my new best soup. That and sugar free popsicyles. Take care. Lisa
I had tomato soup from day 3, my liquid phase consisted of anything that I could pour; very runny oatmeal or porridge, any soup at all, smoothies, yoghurts, ice cream etc. Personally I have never worried about eating low carb except for the obvious no cakes, sugar, sweets etc but in the first 2 weeks I was more worried about getting actual calories in so I wasn't worried about where they came from
Ok so all of this no carbs, no sugar, a little sugar, a lot protein, a little this a little that is driving me insane. Can anyone tell me exactly what the limits on sugars, proteins, carbs etc should be post op? Everytime I think I found something I can eat to get enough protein I see it has alot of sugars etc. I eat quite a bit of yogurt that I am sure has too much sugar so I am going to switch to plain yogurt and sugar free if I can even find it then add splenda. Just got my protein powder in the mail the other day and it's quite good so I am thinking once I get to where I can get off the liquids I can add some yogurt to my protein shakes in the morning for breakfasts. Found some good recipes for once I go onto solid foods that seem as though they are within the range of everything nutritional. Emily Bites - Weight Watchers Friendly Recipes: Wonton "Cupcake" FAQs (can't post the actual link here so google it - tasty recipes and small enough that I can make them ahead of time and freeze them. What about egg substitute? I have never eaten real eggs anyway since I am deathly allergic (not intolerant but actually allergic) so I am thinking I can modify one of these cupcake recipes to make a breakfast one with egg beaters and ???? dunno what kind of meat with low fat cheese.
Tomato soup was one of my favorites during full liquids. I would make creamy soup (with milk) and sometimes would mix it with cheese soup. Then you get protein as well as variety. Another thing I really liked to do was heat up spicy V8. I never had acid problems, so the spice didn't bother me at all. Tomatoes are my favorite food, so I found ways to have them.
As an aside, I only had carb limitations pre-surgery. I was supposed to have two protein shakes with less than 7 carbs for two meals and then a third meal with 4-6 oz of meat and 1 cup of low carb veggies. Post surgery, I have no carb limits. I pay attention to how many I'm eating and will work to keep it down somewhat, but I don't restrict myself. If I decide to join my friends in going for pasta I will (and then have three days of leftovers because you just can't eat that much!).
