Weightloss and antibiotics

So as a lot of you know, I have the slowest weightloss in the world, lol you KWIM

I've yoyo dieted my whole life and have lost more weight in shorter periods even as recently as last year.

I am on antibiotics for the 2nd time since my sleeve to treat H Pylori. The first time I started them I was only able to take them for 4 days. They burned my stomach so badly I was told by my surgeon to stop and try again a month later. So I am 1 week into it now with 3 more days to go. This is my 3rd stall in 2 months and it's been over 2 weeks now.

I do everything I need to do, eat the right things, drink the water and even exercise but nothing, nada!!!

I've done some research on antibiotics and weightloss and that the antibiotics can either cause weight gain or stall your weightloss. I'm taking amoxicillin (2 twice daily) and clarithromyc (1 twice daily). I'm also taking prilosec 40mg twice a day now to help my stomach handle to antibiotics.

Anybody else on antibiotics and stalling? Also, once I finish the antibiotics, how long to get them out if my system? Any idea?

Oh yeah, I also took extra antibiotics pre and post surgery because of my knee replacement

Have you considered taking probiotics to help you stomach in handling the antibiotics? You can get this in many forms: pills, liquids, yogurt, etc. Good luck.

Yep I take those too

You are doing the right thing. I had H-pylori before surgery, finished a/b 4 days before surgery. Just started with the same symptoms again, I bet its not all gone. The a/b can be tough on a normal stomach can't imagine with a smaller one. Good Luck don't know much about stalls on a/b. Just stay the course. Happy Thanksgiving.

Ya know, I've never thought about it, but you may be on to something here. Since surgery, I've struggled with some type of bladder infection. (I don't think it was related to surgery, just coincidental.) So, I have had two rounds of antibiotics. The last round was two weeks ago, and I have also been in a plateau for about 10 days. I didn't think anything about it because I have been lucky enough to not really plateau since surgery... I just figured my number was up haha
