After my 6 month journey, I was finally sleeved Monday morning at 11:30. Everyone at the hospital was so nice and helpful. I had a lot of severe pain and couldn't keep anything down. The morphine did not help so they finally switched me to Tordol. My blood pressure got up to 160 over 110 and my white blood cell count got up to 22. They were going to make me stay another night but I begged to go home.

I got home last night around 7:30. The pain is still pretty intense and I'm having a lot of nausea. The phenegren and Lortab helps. I had a bad reaction to the tape they used over my incisons and now have all these huge red welts all over my abdomen.

All I'm able to keep down is a few tablespoons of things that are lukewarm. Ice cold and hot beverages are horrible on the reflux (which I never knew I had until yesterday). So far all I keep saying to myself is "you did this to yourself" and I'm really hoping that I start to feel better soon.

Being sleeved can cause reflux...your body makes the same amount of stomach acid but only has a tiny sleeve to put it in...the only place it can go is up. Ask your doc for reflux meds if you don't already have them.

I have to admit I'm very worried about the reflux. I've only had it when I was pregnant, never before or after, and I hated it when I was preggo. It was very disruptive to my life, and I don't want it again! I'm reading a lot about reflux, and it's worrying me.

I was sleeved the same day as you, and the reflux has been worse than any of the pain I've experienced. I'm having a hard time getting the fluids down. Soon we both will be posting that we feel great Stay positive !

I too was sleeved on the same day I have been disolving Prilosec OTC in a little bit of water and taking it. My doc said to do that once a day, but I had to do it twice yesterday and I think before bed, I'll do it again. It will get better, but don't undermedicate at this stage either. If you need your pain meds take it, if you need your acid reducer, take it. Just remember it has to be disolved in water first. No lumps, bumps or chunks Hang in there, we'll be on the right track soon!

I promise it will get better! I'm 17 days out, and I feel great...just take it one day at a time!

I've had a lot of popcicles the past few days. They seem to be one of the only things I can take down with no effects. I've noticed if I try to lay down too soon after I eat something the reflux is worse. Every day is a lot better. How long are you all planning on taking off of work or did take off of work. My plan is to go back on Wed. I just worry about not having enough energy. I start the day straight and end it hunched over.

I will go back on Thursday. I was going to go back on Wednesday, but I get my staples taken out on Tuesday, so I thought one more day would be fine. Just make sure are drinking plenty of protien to give you that energy you need.

Does anyone else feel guilty everytime they put something in their mouth? I keep feeling like this isn't going to work and I'm going to mess up somehow even though I'm only getting in like 450 calories.
