whoo hooo, me too! Tues. is a commin' fast! I have to be there at 6:30 am for an 8:30 proceedure. What about you? I am having mine inpatient in the hospital and will stay at least one night. What about you?
What is helping me re being a tad nervous: "Turn it over" "Let it go" Praying for the surgical team. And not just so they will do a good job with me and my surgery, but that they will be happy and blessed in their whole lives even as I desire to be.
This will be my 15th time going under anesthesia so I am not afraid of that. I know about pain and can freely ask for what I need, or even just want, from the aides and nurses. It is is OK. I know about holding a pillow to my incision when I cough (which I know we are spost to do regularly after surgery to prevent pneumonia) and when I walk (which I also know we are spost to do every hour or so.) I know to wear something soft and comfy to the hospital so I can also wear it home. Take my toothbrush, toothpaste, bath powder and laptop (don't forget cord and also the one for my phone) and oh yeah, my C-PAP and cord too.) I won't need underwear and they have bariatric sized gowns so I don't really need anything else. What I don't know first hand is how MY body willl react to losing 85% of my stomach! I do feel a little nervous about that as if the results are at all unpleasant and don't improve or override the unpleasantness with the pleasing and more powerful results...and then I remember that God is good, ALL the time no matter what happens!
Welcome to the forum, see you on the loser's bench. PS>are you Syd or Lucy or both?
I have the same surgery time. They tell me that if I am doing well, I can go home the same day! I have been under anesthesia so that's okay. You just read the negative experiences some have had and it makes you nervous. I trust my surgeon and of course God. Syd and Lucy and my dogs! I am Terri but that name was taken!
Mine is tomorrow and I am SUPER EXCITED !!! Praying for a healthy recovery for you both ! God Is Good, and thats how weve gotten this far, from approval to surgery day, lots of prayers each step of the way ! The tips the nurse gave me was to take a Pillow for the Ride home, and to bring the Nausea Med the already prescrived me in case I need to take it on the ride home, I have to stay overnite, but she said some people get pretty nauseated in the car especially, I will be riding about an hour & 25 mins home, but hoping I just enjoy the ride ! My Mommy is spending the night with me at the hospital, my husband is staying home and taking care of our son. I also take care of my grandpa, so not only did I have to prepare my house for surgery, but I had to setup a caregiver to help my Mom & Brother with my grandpa, go fill his insulin pump, setup meds for the week, make sure there is food in his house, and well finally pack my bag this evening ! Cant wait ! Have lost about 20 lbs on the preop, I think ? MY scale and the scale at work are off from each other, and my scale and the one at the surgeon is off, so I will see when they weigh me in the morning. GOOD LUCK GIRLS !!!!!
I was supposed to have surgery today. I got there and was all ready with the IV in and all, but I had a fever. The Doctor came in and said, "No." So I came home with a prescription for a z-pac and a surgery day of this Friday. ( If I'm better.) It was really the best chice, but I can't help being disappointed a little.
