it's been a very rough 3/4 weeks for me.... just went through a major break up with my fiance of 8 years. i never used to drink,but i have every weekend for the last 4 weeks. i know i shouldnt but i couldnt help it, i have been SNACKING on everything and anything, i need ALOT of encouragement!! please help me through this. i also see my dr next week because whenever i eat , i have burning all the way down.... ugh

So sorry to hear about your breakup, what a terrible thing for you to go through. This is the big test, though. What can you go to instead of food and alcohol when you're under duress? Exercise? A volunteer activity? Coming to this forum to vent and respond to other people's questions and worries? We have to retool those old habits to make this surgery a life-long success. Good luck.

Pick yourself up, dust off the cobwebs and get back out there and ride that horse cowgirl...Okay that's a lame response. I admit it. How about an e=hug? Sorry you're going through this tough time. I'm wondering if the burning is acid/ulcers from the alcohol or stress? Either way, this is a time to reflect on what worked, what didn't and move on. If the fiance was a fiance for 8 years, he probably wasn't going to put a ring on it as J-Lo sang, so time to move on. Break ups are not easy, but my motto is that conflict is the catalyst for positive change. Perhaps there's another prince out there just waiting to meet you! Hugs

I also recently went through a breakup with my boyfriend of 5 years, and it is extremely painful. But, by drinking, and eating bad, you are giving him the power over your life, and you CANT do that and expect to be happy. You have to take it one day at a time, and get back to thinking about YOU! YOU are the most important thing, and its his loss! Emotional eating is a problem for a lot of us, and remember the sleeve is a tool, and wont work if you dont use it correctly. Good luck to you, and we all know you can get back to a positive place soon!
