I've read that the average weight loss for GS is 10 pounds per month.
Have you noticed this to be true for you or are your numbers higher/lower?

I think the initial weight loss is higher but I think 10lbs a month thereafter is perfectly reasonable and achievable as long as we're doing what we're supposed to be doing. I'm 6 weeks out today and I've lost 23lbs, 5 of which has been in the last week. I've had 2 ten day stalls since surgery. My goal was to reach 200 by new year. If I step up the exercise, I might be able to achieve it. If not, that's okay too. It's taken me 6 weeks, but I'm at peace with the pace that I'm losing. I do expect it to slow down somewhat the closer I get go goal. Over the past years I have lost and gained but I've never been able to break the 210 mark. When I reach 209, I know I'm on my way!

I think that's about right, based on friends that have had the surgery. At first, the weight loss is about 30 something pounds lost in the first two months then a stall, then about 10lbs or more per month...maybe more if they exercise too. But like we all know, everyone's results may vary.

Im alittle more than that but the inital couple of months were very high. im around 3 and a half months and lost 81lbs but I think it depends on how much you weigh before the surgery, I weighed alot so I was able to lose more.
I think 10lbs a month is pretty accurate. The first month is more dramatic due to the pre op dieting...... Which for me, really, really motivated me to work that much harder!! ;-) I to have had a couple of those dreaded stalls, but- I remeasured and (YIPPIE) I had actually lost inches during both stalls.... Bottom line, it all "adds up" to significant weight loss!!!! The losers bench is all warmed up, and awaiting for your arrival!!!

Wow, I am so glad I found this thread! I lost a large amount of weight right upfront, but starting my third month out I've been averaging about 10 pounds a month. I thought I was doing something wrong, even though I am following my doctor's diet plan very closely. I wish it was still coming off as quickly as it did at first, and I have also had a couple stalls. I didn't think about measuring inches, but I think I will from now on. To the original poster, thanks for creating this thread, and I sure seem to be following along at the 10 pounds down a month club, too!
Most people lose faster in the beginning and it seems like higher starting weights lose faster. That said, in my short time of experience, I think 10 sounds about right. It also helps to get exercise. I've been losing 3 a week since I started working out a month ago. I'm sure that won't last too long, but I'll take it while I can get it!! Lol.
