Who else is out there going through this alone?
Rae,
I get what you're saying. I, too, am single and going through this process. I know for some (myself especially), online groups don't give me the face-to-face connection I need when dealing with these myriad of emotions that we post-sleevers experience. Do you know of any weight loss support groups in your area? Does your surgeon have one he suggests? Or, have you come across anyone on the forum in your area? My closest friend through this process was someone I met on another weight loss forum. We can talk to each other about what we're going through because we are going through somewhat of the same. We're both also single, so there's that connection as well. True, your online "family" is here to support you through this process, but, since you sound like someone who would benefit from face-to-face support, please look into the options I listed.
Rae, I have been going threw a lot of odd emotions as well. my husband is here for me but i have gone threw all these odd things from wanting to be single to wanting to get back in a truck (i was a driver for a few years) to no wanting to be a mom anymore (that one only lasted a day i am so glad for that). this journey is about getting healthy but we need to get our minds healthy so those emotions will surface out of fear i believe. hang in there you are doing so well.
Yup, I am single too! So far most of my journey has been good. I have had great support from my parents and kids (even though they are only 14, 12, and 12). I am kind of shy at times so the on line thing has been good for me. My doc does require me to attend support groups as part of my post op process. I assume there is a reason for it so you may want to give it a try!
Kim
Hi Rae!
I am single too...and I want you to know that your help has been wonderful through my journey so far. I find so much information and support on here! I also have a friend who has been very successful with a lap-band which was done in Mexico, who is very supportive of me. We're SO here for you! xo

I am considering joining over eaters anonymous to work on head hunger. The support group for the practice I went through is in the middle of the afternoon on work days which doesn't seem user friendly to me. I have a friend who had the surgery a year ago that lives locally but has a husband and three small kids so its not always easy to get together. The nature of the work I do I cannot talk about anything that happens work related so this forum has been wonderful because I am able to talk about something I am doing where normally I listen to what others are up. My mom is very interested in everything I am doing but I need support not reporting which is what it can feel like.
I will look into that... thanks!
