Default Hello - Close to surgery date now second guessing my decision

Hi I'm 2 weeks out for surgery and second guessing my decision multiple times a day.
So very scared I will never enjoy food again.
    I'm 5'7' and 322 lbs.
My highest weight was back in 2010 I hit 360 pounds.

I was able to loose 200 pounds with diet and exercise (WW and walking/biking) in about 18 months. kept it off for 2 years but then I have slowly regained it over the years.

Now I am second guessing if I should just go back to WW or see the sleeve surgery through.
I have been battling cancer the past year and it seems to be going in my favor, but my oncologist is really pushing for the sleeve surgery, he is stating that if he needs to operate, I need to be down a least 100 pounds and quickly for the best surgical outcome.

One minute I am thinking OK the sleeve is the best option, then the next my thought is I was averaging 2-3 pounds a week with WW and I don't know that the sleeve will have much better results, why not just do that?

Anyone else have similar struggles/thoughts before surgery?

Hi Mutt, I was the same way. I yoyo'ed between 286 to 185 for about 15 years. I would lose it and slowly it would return. I had the sleeve about 5 years ago but failed to follow the requirements and the weight came back so 2 weeks ago I had the mini-bypass also known as the Sleeve revision. I guess 20% of people having the sleeve don't have permanent weight loss. There is no way I can make a recommendation for you, but for me it was the right decision. I am already down over 15 pounds and the fat is just melting off.
Hope all goes well for you, whichever way you decide to go.

I was going to second-guess but I went through it. I am now 6 weeks as of today and I was cleared to go back to normal eating (minus carbs). I will admit it was a pain in the butt to get here, especially with the liquid diet, but it really is worth it. I have lost 26lbs in the 6 weeks and a total of 94lbs since I started exercising and watching what I eat.

Do I still slip up and eat the wrong thing? Sure do, but with the gastric sleeve it is easier to correct mistakes than overdo it. Just don't stretch it out, that's the goal.

Glad to haer its going well for you.
Thank you for the support and responses.

After much soul searching and a talk with my Doc. I have decided to postpone the surgery for now.
I am just not in the right headspace yet. Doctor was very understanding and referred me to the Medical Weigh Loss Team at the hospital to start a Medically supervised diet and excersize program ( something I have not tried yet and one last stop to see if i can do it without going undr the knife.) He wished me the best and told me he will be there for me when im ready for surgery.

It's understandable that you're facing uncertainties about the surgery, given your previous weight loss journey and current health situation. How do you plan to navigate the challenges of the medically supervised program, and what factors will help you decide when you're ready for surgery?

Also, Corberic, thank you for sharing your experience. How did the mini-bypass (Sleeve revision) impact your weight loss journey, and what advice do you have for someone like Mutt who's contemplating their decision?

Mutt, considering your recent decision to postpone the surgery and explore a medically supervised program, what specific aspects of the program do you find most challenging, and what strategies are you planning to employ to overcome them? Additionally, Corberic, could you elaborate on the impact of the mini-bypass (Sleeve revision) on your weight loss journey and share any insights for individuals like Mutt who are contemplating their decisions?
