Doctor said something yesterday and I'm kinda ticked...

So, I had a follow up visit with my doctor yesterday and he said that he's not happy with my weight lose and that I need to make changes in my diet. He said that I should be further ahead and if I don't get more weight off in year one, it will be much harder to get off in year two. Has anyone else heard this?

I was so discouraged because I feel great and have lost about 40 pounds since 8/23! I think I'm doing fine, but I keep hearing him say this over and over again in my head! For some reason my feelings are really hurt!

Has anyone felt scolded by their doctor?

Ok, first of all, 40 pounds in less than two months is fabulous! I see you are in Ohio. Who is your surgeon? I don't understand how he can say you haven't lost enough!! My goodness, you're not even two months out! When I had my lap band, my doctor (also in Ohio) chastised me for not losing as much as he felt I should have lost. Mind you, I LOST between fills and still got chewed out. Needless to say, I quit seeing him after a few more nasty visits.

He didn't tell me a number, but said "you should be further along in you weight lose". All I can do is refocus like he said, but it's the first time that I felt like eating to comfort myself since I've had my surgery! That made me mad because I haven't been using food as a crutch! I didn't cave, but I feel like my old fat self again

I am so sorry this happened to you. I am just 4 days out from surgery and I can tell you if my dr. tells me this after I've worked hard and LOST a good amoutn of weight like you --- I will be switching dr.'s. Don't let it get you down...you are doing FANTASTIC!

I'm in Columbus and actually will be seeking another doctor. I think also that a lot of surgeons don't have good bedside manner. I have been replaying this to see if it just didn't come out right when he said it. It's nice to talk to people about it. My husband has been trying to calm me down about it too, and he's so supportive so... At least I live with the man that knows I'm doing well, and only have to see the man (dr) once a month!

Your Doctor sounds like a whack job....WTH!!! I had my surgery on the 21st of August and have lost about 45 pounds, so our stats are similar! You're killing it Sister!!!

I think you are doing fantastic! Change dr.'s. Don't let his ignorance make you feel bad. To many dr.'s do that. Last I heard, about 2#'s a week is a safe amount of weight to lose.

I have lost 47 since May and my doctor says that is good weight loss.

Wow that is awesome loss in a short time, Can I ask you have you told your Dr how you feel about what he said? Maybe he meant something totally different. Most Dr's just want you to succeed after this surgery and maybe that is his own way of giving you that kick in the pants, or maybe he has had a bad string of patients that have been unsuccessfull therefore he has a negative attitude and thinks most will fail no matter what. What ever you choose to do DR wise, In my own opinion I think you have done great and keep your chin up.
