Finally, the day has come when I met with the surgeon one on one this morning. I brought along ALL my history, my summaries from my primary care doctor's visits (BMI, medications, etc... over the last 3 years.) I even brought along my insurance book. He went over everything he covered Saturday at the seminar, and reiterated (What I already KNOW) that the eating habits have to change and the foods I eat will have to change. I told him I am very aware of this and have completely been following his nutritional diet his nutritionist put me on at the end of December. I told him that I have followed everything exactly, but that I am always hungry within an hour and a half after eating the minuscule amounts allowed. He said that all his patients say that. (It's IS true...2 oz of meat on a regular size stomach is rough folks...for me anyway.) And he also knew my insurance plan off hand without even looking at papers, and knows what they require, which was nice to hear. He'll send a request for my health records to my PCP (she is the one who suggested I have this surgery) and I already spoke with her today, she said she'll have all my records ready for him. He told me they arrange for the psche visit and I only have 2 more classes to go on the nutrition. He said I see him again in 6 weeks and they will begin filing the paperwork for prior approval with my insurance. He then asked me what my highest weight has ever been (My weight NOW) and my lowest (138 when I got married 40 years ago.) He asked what I would like to weigh realistically and I told him I would be thrilled if I got to 160 (even though 155 would be a nice goal) and he said "Good". You're not going to see the 130's again. ( I didn't expect to.)
He then said 'Welcome Aboard!"
