    Default Hair Loss and food

I am four months out almost five! When does my hair STOP thinning I literally just got out if shower in tears maybe I am overreacting but my hair is really thinning and it is depressing! I am just gonna try to increase my protein drinks. I still don't like eating so I have to drink most of my meals. I don't really like eating right now it seems like a hassle. Did anyone else have that problem? Any advise will be appreciated! Thanks in advance

I have read that if you do not get enough protein in you will lose hair with rapid weight loss. Try increasing your protein intake. I have also read that hair loss stops after a point. Good luck.

Are you taking b-vitamins, especially biotin? Remember we don't absorb those as well any more with our little sleeves and we need to take them for life.
Also, I'm making protein jello out of knox gelatin, Knox is good for hair and nails. Recipe is on site...but even sf jello would help.
I am using the Nioxin system 3 shampoo and conditioner. I don't know for certain if it is helping but I love how it makes my hair look.

I lost some about 4 months into the process (I started dropping lbs preop in June). It has slowed down but I am ready if it starts up again.
And, I know I'm a broken record, but it might pay to have your doc check your thyroid. I have lost and regrown hair every 6 mo over the last 4 yrs getting mine straightened out.

CFIDS =Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) Also dx with post-bariatric reactive hypoglycemia; and chronic gastritis (both sleeve complications). Permanently disabled.
Start weight 335, down to 218, up during gastritis. Have accepted there is no way to lose it with my hypoglycemia. Current weight 260. Currently doing 10 day sleeve reset and determined to get back down to my post surgical weight or close to it.

binky, I'm right there with you!!!! I would save the lost hair off the shower drain and line it up along the tub wall so I could see if the hair loss was tapering off. I did that for a week and I could not tell a difference!

I started losing my hair the first of September and so far mine hasn't slowed down any! My nurse practitioner (who had the sleeve almost 2 yrs. ago) said to take zinc and 5000mg of biotin. She also said we need to be getting in 60-80g of protein. That's my downfall. She recommended the Atkin bars and shakes to supplement. I'm doing some of that, but when I do, I find I'm not eating a meal because I'm full.

Stick with the vitamins and work on your protein intake. I hope we both start seeing slow-down!!

The biotin is a god send, even starting it now could slow the hair loss, and getting it in daily can reverse it. I have regrown hair that was so thin right in front. Amazing stuff. 1000mg a day fast dissolve works, believe in it.

If you go to the website, you can find salons in your area that sell it. You can also order it from Amazon, and I think they carry it at Ulta.

Biotin.. I take at least 5,000 per day (some days 10,000) ~ as I lost a ton of hair with the lapband (more than half) ~ and I am determined not to do it again (hopefully) now that I've been sleeved! I also "Choke" down at least 80g of potein a day. I have too...as I really like my hair. I also have been using Nixion for the past year and that helps alot too. Any salon or beauty supply store has it! Good luck.

So you take 1000 mg a day? Does brand matter?
