    Cool Hi Everybody

I enjoy reading these threads...it makes me feel like I am not alone. Good luck and God bless everyone on your journey!! Since surgery two months ago (265 lbs) I have lost 38 lbs and I feel like it should be more. I think I have stalled. I have trouble with eating too many carbs and "treating" myself to "goodies". My caloric intake is under 700 each day and I have read on here where that is too low and may be the reason for the stall.
Reason: wanted to add some info

Welcome and congrats on weightloss this far.

I'm not as much concerned with your 700 calories as much as the "goodies" you mentioned. You could have a 700 cal nutritient dense day and be okay, but if you are mostly eating empty calories then I invite you to seek professional advice on your eating habits, and food compulsion.

How do you eat an elephant?

Answer: one bite at a time.

Make sure every bite you take are nutrient packed foods, high in protein, complex carbs (whole grains, most green vegetables, low glycemic fruits).

You are losing weight because your sleeved tummy has restricted your food (good or bad) intake, eventually you will be able to eat more food (good or bad) and you will regain.

And please know you are definitely NOT alone! We may have individual battles, but we are in this WAR together!

    Best wishes!

You've lost 38 pounds in two months. That's an average of 19 pounds per month. You're doing wonderfully and I do not see what you'd be concerned about at this point in time, unless your expectations about the rate of weight loss are unrealistic. If so, you might need to adjust your expectations to match reality.

It personally took me nearly four months to lose the first 38 pounds with the sleeve, yet I still reached my goal weight. Look at my signature for the monthly weight loss...it typically hovered around six pounds per month.

People pay too much attention to the weight loss portion of their journeys and not nearly enough attention to the maintenance phase. It doesn't matter how fast you lose the weight if you end up regaining 18 to 24 months from now due to treating yourself to goodies that promptly end up being converted to fat storage in your body. Look at the big picture...

    Good luck to you!

Great advice on both counts. The rate of loss is not nearly as important as making the life changes you need to lose this weight and keep it off for good! Go back to basics. Cut out carbs! If you must eat them, make sure they come from nutritious sources. You can do this!

    Best wishes!

    Thanks RehabNurse
I was feeling pretty bad about losing just 20pds in 8 weeks after reading that post. Realistically I've never lost 20 lbs this quickly. It appears to be a slow and steady race for me. Thanks for putting it into perspective...I needed that!
