    Default Isopure question

    GSF,

I am back in Northwestern Hospital for severe dehydration. I've been drinking 40 oz of Isopure daily + much water.
One of my attending Physicians told me hours ago that Isopure could be the cause of my diarrhea, which in turn contributed to this acute dehydration.
I googled: isopure diarrhea...pulled up some horror stories
Coincidentally, my son googled Isopure + diarrhea and pulled up many references.Anyone with any first hand knowledge of
    this?

I have also fallen down 7-8 times indoors as well as outdoors.

    Many thanks in advance,

    Ron Rosenbaum
    Reason: Ehydration

yes I did get severe diarrhea with isopure

    I stopped taking Isopure.

I like High protein Ensure, High Protein Boost and Premier

I hope you feel better soon.

My cousin had sleeve a couple yrs ago and she said she had to go to hospital 2 times in the first 3 weeks post op.

At this point nothing trumps hydration. This hot weather does not help either.

    Default Re: Isopure question

Several protein powders gave me diarrhea (Isopure being one of them), also at around week 3 post-op I had a really bad stomach flu (and violent diarrhea) and I had to go back to the hospital as well. I'm pretty sure at that time I was drinking Isopure....that's weird...

The fainting issue is supposed to be a side effect of the surgery (from what my surgeon said we all get dehydrated at some point after a sleeve) and I did have some issues too, sometimes just dizzy, but I felt on the ground once, it was really bad, that was two months ago and I did hurt knee and ankle.

Right now during Summer, and also because I live in Asia and it's burning hot and humid, I don't stay outdoor a lot because I wouldn't be able to drink enough to cover the water I lose just being outside and feeling like in a sauna after 30 seconds.

Hang in there and try to have other forms of protein if you are allowed to.
Right now I use the powder "True vitality unflavored" and I've been using it more than 10 days, which is a record. I mix it with almond milk, PB2 and dark cocoa. This one also have probiotics, and it does help... I think.

When I was in the US I liked the ready to drink Orgain shakes, I really liked the chocolate or cappuccino, it was so convenient to always have one ready in the fridge, and no need for a blender (since I travel a lot sometimes that's complicated to be able to make those shakes..). Unfortunately, I can't have liquids ship to me, I tried the Orgain powder and didn't like it, way too sweet.

Don't stock up on anything anyway, because sometimes it can go wrong after a few days....well, it does for me.

The first month is hard, but it will get better.
    Good luck and take care.

Thanks, everyone for your quick and thoughtful responses to my question. Once again,
the experience of the GSF veterans trumps much of the info we were given in our pre
    surgery education classes.

    Thanks again,

Glad you made it back into the hospital. How many days post op did you decide before you went in 4-5 days
Will receive Good care there, sorry you fell so much

Isopure was on my list to get.
Thanks Goodness on Amazon it was not selling on prime due to weight issues to ship to Alaska. Or I would have gotten it.
    You saved me.
    Thanks

Thanks again to all for your support and well wishes. One of the Nurse Practitioners
Brought me a few packets of Beneprotein ( Nestle) unflavored instant protein powder,
which when mixed into a cup of skim milk = 14g protein. I like this stuff and have a 48 CT pkg
    Coming tomorrow from Amazon.

Again, thanks for the well wishes everyone,

    Ron

    Ron,

I'm so sorry to hear you're not well. I hope your hospital stay is short and you'll be home soon.

I'm sending All Good Thoughts and Prayers!

I didn't experience any problems with Isopure at all.

I did some research that referenced powdered whey protein and diarrhea especially if you're lactose intolerant.

    Please keep us updated.

    Hi Wanagl,

Getting out of the hospital today. The Beneprotein I mentioned upthread
seemed to agree with me. I was also really getting really sick of the extreme
sweetness of the Isopure, so I'm going to cross my fingers and give it a try!

    Thanks,

    Ron
