    Post Weight loss after sleeve

Hey all. I am now 4 days post op. I did have a hiatal hernia to contend with so I'm not sure if that's why I feel like I need to lean back when I eat or slurp if you will. I am planning on getting some isopure today but I was wondering how much weight is a normal amount to lose within 4 days after. Currently I'm at 9 lbs in 4 days, YAY but is that bad? I'm living on chicken broth and just started going with luigis Italian ice, and jello, water is very difficult to get in. So I'm also thinking of drinking decaf tea... Any ideas

Its been quite awhile ago for me, but your main thing is to stay hydrated. Food will come. But if you get dehydrated your organs are going to rebel. Stay away from caffeine as that is dehydrating. I remember I was feeling quite inflamed for along time which helped with the feeling full almost 4 months out. You are doing well, your body is adjusting.

You need to concentrate on getting in your fluids and protein. I didn't see any mention of protein in your post. The only numbers you need to worry about are 64oz of fluids and 60g protein....minimum! The numbers on the scale don't mean jack shit right now. I weighed at the doctors office at 11 days out and weighed exactly the same as I did day of surgery. No biggie. I didn't weigh again until 6 weeks out. At your stage, worrying about the scale only distracts you from what's really important.

BTW, I couldn't tolerate artificial sweeteners or plain water postop. I did drink a lot of decaf tea as well as diluted pedialyte, diluted fruit juice, diluted Gatorade and milk. I got my protein from milk mixed with Greek Yogurt, Premier shakes, Syntrax nectar protein powder, and by adding unflavored protein powder to every kind of broth and pureed cream soup I could find.

I didn't lose anything really that early on. I think i was the same for at least a week.

I understand needing the protein within my diet, I was not doubting that. If you had seen in the beginning of the post it stated I was getting my isopure today. So thank you for reminding me. Thank you for the tip with the artificial sweeteners, as I couldn't handle them while on regular diet before. I did like the idea of the dilution of Gatorade I forgot about that one. I'm still within the learn curve and am trying many different things to get myself on the right path. I was concerned about the weight because I hadn't really heard of people losing within such a short time.

As far as the weight loss post surgery is concerned, you've probably realized by the responses so far that everyone is different! I'll pile on to that and add that I actually gained weight in the first week post-surgery, from the iv fluids and whatnot. In terms of getting liquids in ... plain water tasted like chemicals to me after surgery (it's okay now), and I ended up sipping on diluted vitamin water zeros (about 2:1 water to vitamin water) to get my 64oz in. I also found herbal teas (which are decaf) really great to sip on - for some reason the warm liquid seemed easier to get down. I still currently drink quite a bit of herbal tea (I'm about 9 weeks out now) to help get in my liquids.

Weight Loss: 2.22 lbs/wk avg since surgery
    Dec20 - (pre-op)
    (-23 lbs)
    Jan20 - (surgery day)
    mo1 (-13 lbs)
    mo2 (-11.5 lbs)
    mo3 (-10 lbs)
    mo4 (-10 lbs)
    mo5 (-9 lbs)
    mo6 (-6 lbs)
