Cecilia's New Begining.

Hi everyone, My name is Cecilia. I live in Mississippi and have been over weight for my whole life. It stated when I was about nine. I have tried every diet you can think of and everyone worked to a point, I lost weight and gained it back and then some. I was very shy in school and called so many names. I was the hamburger-hot dog girl, because some boy said I only came to school when the served hamburger and hot dogs and that was everyday. I quit going to school because I could not stand it any longer. I waited till those people moved to the next school year. I went back to school the next year and my brother and I were in the same class and that helped. See, he was over 6 feet tall, to me he was my big little brother. By the time school was over, I was over 200 pounds. I never had boyfriends and I hated school so no college for me. I worked at a pizza place with my family(my sister, her husband and Me). What a great place for someone who is fat. I bloomed up to over 250, and meet my husband delivering him a pizza. Married life was great, I could cook and he loved that. Two kids later and nearing 300 pounds, I left him and moved back home. I have worked really hard to lose weight but just can not keep it off. I do not want to bore everyone who reads this, so I will tell you why I choose the gastric sleeve. I have worked hard and been paying off all my bills and next month I will be debt free. I am so proud and the first thing my mother told me was "we are going to get you that lap band you have always wanted" I told her "mom I can not get my hopes up and I just want to be left alone" She placed a add for the Lap Band on my laptop and I went nuts. She broke me down and called the Dr office and found when they were having a seminar. We went and I like the Gastric sleeve over the lap band and I have a appt on 10/26/11. So my Journey begins.

It was the best think for myself to. I choose the sleeve also and I am 31 days out and have lost 46 pounds. I feel like I am can accomplish anything now. I wish you luck on your journey and don't give up

Congratulations! And good choice going for sleeve over lap band. The lap band works for a lot of people, but it didn't work for me. I had mine put in Jan '09 and I weigh the same now as when went into surgery. I'm working on getting a revision to a sleeve. Good luck on your journey.

Dee, I am going to talk about having the sleeve. I know this is the surgery I want. My sister said Heck no but I will not tell her until its done. My mom said get you want.

Hi Cecilia,

Congrats on your decision!! You will be so happy, surprised and thrilled with how the weigh comes off so fast. It's not the miracle cure-all. We still have to watch what we eat, but to be honest, in my "fat person's" mind, it IS a miracle. I live in Starville and was sleeved June 1. I've had NO complications. For the first time in my life, I don't mind stepping on a scale to see what I weigh!

Where are you having your surgery? I went to Oxford and was very pleased. If you want to talk to someone, I'll be more than happy to answer any questions you may have before and after your life-changing decision!! I hope all goes well fo you!

Congrats. Way to do this for you! That is the best reason. Don't worry about everyone else, now is the time to be selfish and only think about you! It has been the best decision I have made, and I am enjoying the weight loss.

Hello Cindy, Omg if you could see the smile on my face. I am going to Tupelo to Dr Pinson. Its close and I feel its the easiest road to go for me. I do not like the roads to Oxford. That is why and only why I am choosing Tupelo. I am so so so excited to have someone close to talk too. I will be bouncing tons of questions off of you(if that's OK)
I will be going to a support group on Thursday and my very first appt. on Oct. 26. I am really excited and totally scared to death. Love hearing from you
