Default I feel weak, is this normal?

I'm almost 3 weeks post op and I still feel weak at times. I want to start walking but my heart rate increases quickly and I feel like something heavy is sitting on my chest and I feel weak. Have any of you experienced this?? Curious if it's just going to take some more time to feel "normal". Thanks.

Same experience I had. Walking up my stairs to my bedroom was a chore. I think its your body running on a fraction of the calories that it used too. Hang in their it will get better.

I felt weak for nearly 6 months. It took every bit of strength I had to walk through the grocery store. It get's better. I upped my Vitamin B and protein and was fine after awhile.

You might need some carbs for energy. Sounds weird, but my husband encouraged me to drink some of the juice from a can of peaches and it was amazing. Best to you!

Make sure you are not dehydrated. From my personal experience and experience as a RN I know that dehydration causes increased heart rate and fatigue. Hope you get it straightened out and feel better.

Me too. Seems that I get started on something around the house and before ya know it, I'm sitting down resting or napping. Thanks.

Our daughter has the same problem. She was sleeved in April.

"Lee, by "own it!" your daughter means that you should be proud of your accomplishment and understand that you deserve this. Not because you have to pay it forward or backward to justify your own benefits. She means that this is YOUR accomplishment, and accomplishing that for yourself is enough. You do not have to fix everybody. And you do not owe anyone for the benefits you have earned. They are YOURS!" Ann2

I have almost instant episodes of exhaustion. Sleeved a week ago today but have plenty of energy and then BOOM... I don't. I can get about 6K steps in my FitBit before I feel I ran a 5K. That's a whole days of steps right now. Just listen to your body. If you over do it, the longer your recovery.

Remember, your body has been traumatized. I was suppose to be off 3 weeks from work, but felt pretty good and went back after 2 weeks. Now I know why they said 3 weeks. I was so tired. I thought since I had a desk job it would not matter . . . .WRONG! Just give yourself time to heal and when your body says it is time to rest, then put your feet up and rest.

Take your time and squeeze in naps when you can and let your body stabilize. Get a big water container and sip all day, the dehydration in the summer heat will really do you in. And I do need an occassional carb hit, not sugar, but a protein bar or shake or yogurt when I hit a low mid day. I seem to keep my energy more stable on small meals more often. I ride my horse after work some days and am not at my highest energy level and always add a protein bar before I get on.
