Well hello there .... im melissa , and im awesome

let me start by saying im melissa, im from tupelo MS, and i have been overweight my entire life . i was never picked on for it as i have always been "proportional", but fat all the same . the most i have ever weighed was 310 lbs. back in 2007 i joined weight watchers through work and lost 100 lbs. so i know it can be done ... i have gained 70 of that back in 4 years . i now have a job with great insurance that has approved me for sleeve surgery. my surgery date is 9-27...so 8 days away .... i have dreamed of this moment since i was 15 years old . it was always an unattainable thing to me , so knowing that i am going to have this surgery without going bankrupt is a bit like petting a unicorn ..... supernatural even . i have a wonderful doctor , terry pinson. i have seen on here and other sites that there are doctors out there who do the surgery without all of the pre education and proactive steps leading up to it , i dont know how i would have handled this without all of the help dr pinson and his team have provided . currently i am on day 3 of my high protein presurgery diet to shrink the liver so it need not be moved so much during surgery ....i feel great ...i am sooooo ready . if any of you guys have any tips on anything pre surgery or post surgery that might you feel could be helpful ... please let me know !

good luck on the upcoming and also on shrinking the liver my dr didnt do a per liquid diet just south beach phase 1 strict diet needless to say i have an extra incision near my bra line because they had to move my liver out of the way wish i was told to do liquids b4 but all in all everything went wonderful im 6 days out and feel amazing and down 11lbs u will do great

That's so awesome, I remember feeling the excitement! It's such a great feeling knowing that your life is about to take a turn for the better after so many weight related turn for the worse! Keeps u's posted on ur progress and how your surgery goes

I just ate nearly pure protein during my pre-op and shrunk the heck outta my liver. I really ate almost 0 carbs for 2 weeks. Bacon, anyone?

Post-op advice: I've said it before and I'll say it again. Sip, sip, sip your water. It's VERY easy to get dehydrated and it's no fun.
