Default so sick of being stalled

I have been stalled again for the last few weeks only losing a pound or so. I am only 4 weeks out. I started exercising and still no budging. I will have to try the all liquid diet or something. I see people on here who have lost more weight than me in the same amount of time with the same BMI and it is frustrating. How in the world can you not lose weight eatting 600-700 calories a day. Does anyone have advice on how to get things moving again?

Your body can't absorb more than 25g of protein an hour (I assume you are not a bodybuilder or athlete nor do you work out like one), so I don't think you're getting the optimum bang for your protein intake.
Also, you can stall if you are not drinking enough, eating too much/too little, not exercising.
And remember if you are exercising, muscle weighs more than fat, so you may not see the scale move, but you'll see different body results.
But stalling is also a natural process while it readjusts to your new caloric intake.

I read someone else here say just changing up their food routine was enough to trigger loss again.

A lot of people have told me when you start out at a lower weight, you lose a lot slower but come on now.....I never threw up or have had a problem with any foods that I eat. I just can't eat alot. I watch my carb, protein intake and my calories. I don't care if it's 1 or 2 pounds a week just wish something would happen. The only down side to having surgery in Mexico is that you can't go talk with the Doctor and get advice. Wish I had a nutritionist to talk to. Thanks everyone!

What were you eating before? If you suddenly go from 2500 calories a day to 600-700, your first loss will be water, and then some fat, but your body will go into "starvation mode" and not loose at all.
Were you 219 on the day of your surgery? If so, 26 lbs in 29 days is nothing to sneeze at, either. Remember, this is not a race. This is your new life.

You are right NYCBISCUIT, this is not a race. I guess I have tried every diet out there with no success, I am worried I am going to fail. I also think that maybe I will be the one this surgery won't work for. Thanks for the perspective.

I feel your pain. I was stalled for 3 weeks. I just got back from a week in Vegas. Ate what I wanted, but in very small amounts. Got home Sunday and the scale was down 5 ilbs..... I kind of let it go and just hoped I wouldn't gain. Go figure.... I did do a lot of walking as the casinos on the strip get further and further apart. Your body has to adjust to this new way of eating.....

My 4 month experience has been to stall pretty regularly. I have had all of the same fears as well. I am currently at a stall where I have been for over a month, but my eating hasn't been wonderful either. My advice for you is to keep doing what you are doing. It is the right stuff and your body will figure it out and the scales will start moving down! I know when I posted about this same issue, the response I got was to up my protein intake and water. Good luck to you.

You can always go to a nutritionist who specializes in bariatric surgery. They are out there....you just have to pay their consultation fees.

I know I read this before I had the surgery, but I get impatient and forget a lot... especially when things are not moving as fast I would like. But it helps to read it again and make sure your expectations are realistic:

"Short term results show that gastric sleeve patients who have had the stand-alone procedure can expect to achieve a 60 to 70% excess weight loss at 2 years"

So if you started at 220 pounds and you should weigh 140, your "excess weight" is 80 pounds. 70% of that is 56 pounds. Over *2* years! You are already at HALF of what the "norm" would expect after two years after just **4** weeks.

Now, from what I have seen on here and with myself, it is going faster than that - I "expect" to reach my goal (assuming 5 pounds/month average from now on) after 7 months. But that doesnt mean I set the "correct" goal either...

And of course, how fast or slow you go, and whether you "succeed" or "fail" at this is mostly up to you! Protein and water of course, but I read today (again, had seen it before), that a HUGE important rule about weight loss surgery including this one is not drinking while eating (the 30 min before/after or whatever your doc told you). There is also chewing your food dozens of times, and eating slowly and giving a little time between bites, etc. Exercise of course. There are a lot of "rules" in that documentation they give you that we kind of forget in the rush of initial weight loss. Go back and read it again and make sure you are following ALL the rules with no excuses. And if you are - great!!! It is a normal, typical, plain old stall that will resolve itself. But it cant hurt to "play" and see if you can prod it along by changing things up a bit. If you have been living on tuna for protein, switch to PB or chicken or something for a day. Vary your carbs each day - 20 one day and 60 the next, etc. Whatever is in range for you. Cut back on protein for a day and pick it back up the next. Your body will get complacent and you need to bump it out of its "zone". But in the end, you might just have to wait it out... and know it wont be the last one you hit!

Good luck - all of us, at 3 weeks, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months, even a year are hitting "stalls". They are just part of the process of your body adjusting. And sometimes only time will kick it back in gear.
