Hi everyone! Well surgery went perfect. I woke up with my BP really high. Never had BP that high before. That continued well until Saturday. They kept giving me medication for it and it would go back down. The gas in my stomach and chest was the worst. Felt like it was having chest pains. Tummy does not hurt. What bothers me the most is my hiatal hernia repair. It does hurt and i knew that going in. Not something i can't deal with but very very uncomfortable. Liquid pain med helps a lot. I wanted to walk right after i got out of recovery because the pain in my chest was so bad and i felt like if i could get up i could burp. Finally they let me walk. I did and still burp a lot. It helps so much to get that gas out.
I am on Day 4 today. Sipping 4 oz clear fluids every hour while awake. Very slow sips. Complete chewable vitamins 2 X's a day and antacids as well. My husbands stocked the island up with bottles of water, sugar free drinks and protein shakes. Low Fat/Low Sodium Soup is in the pantry. The warm stuff has gone down really well. In the hospital i just wanted room temperature stuff. Broth was way too salty and sugar free drinks were too sweet. They need to work on that part. Other then that my experience was a good one. They took excellent care of me. They were surprised how quickly i wanted to get out of bed and walk. They said they usually have to drag Sleeve and RNY patients out of bed to get them to walk. They sooner you walk the sooner you can go home and rest. Can't rest in a hospital setting. It's impossible. Last night i had a popsicle for the first time. Really enjoyed it,no pain or anything. Thanks for all the well wishes!
