I have an IUD. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it.

Mine was actually two weeks late the first time after surgery. I know that surgery can really mess with your cycle, but having one for 26 days can mess with your body. I once had a problem with taking birth control pills regularly, and ended up having two periods within a few days. And when I went to donate blood I couldn't because my blood had so little iron in it. You really do need to check with a doc.

I have an IUD also and my period has been the same after the surgery. Check with your doctor right away 26 days in a row is way too long. I'm not trying to scare you or nothing but I think that could leave you anemic.

Call your doctor and if your soaking more than a pad an hour call right away. Estrogen is being released into your body at higher qauntities as the fat is being broken down. It could also be related to this. Always call the doc when in doubt. Best wishes.

Ok ... so, here's my answer on your, uh ... thing you got going on there ...

Being overweight, the hospital usually injects us with an anti-clotting medication that prevents blood clots. It can affect the menstrual cycle in women for up to 2 cycles after surgery. Bleeding that many days can really take a toll on your energy, try eating some iron rich foods during all of that ... uh ... stuff, and see if it helps. If not, contact your gyno - but keep the anti clot stuff in mind (it would have been a shot in the side of your gut or some other random place while you were being prepped for surgery).

    Hope you're uh ... thing there ... get's better ... or whatever.

Hi, I have the copper IUD as well. I had my surgery just over 2 months ago and if anything, my periods have gotten lighter and shorter (by 2 days). I don't think the blood thinners really have anything to do with it (IMHO, I could be wrong!) s having been on injectable blood thinners and oral blood thinners (for several months), the affects only last approximately 24 hours which is why you have to take them on a daily basis to get the full effect. Anyhow, the surgery itself can screw up your cycle as it is physical trauma to the body, or shock to the body. Either way you need to see your doc. Better safe than sorry.

I would say please just call your doctor. We are obviously not Medical professionals in here and while i am medically trained, I am a Medical Assistant i would never offer medical advise on a forum other than when in doubt CALL YOUR DOCTOR!

Well, I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on tv (sorry had to joke). I agree with what everyone has said. Call your doctor to make sure there isn't anything going on that they can fix ... Good luck.

Get a blood test to check your thyroid. After I had my last child. I had the after childbirth bleeding, then it stopped about 5 weeks later. I was breastfeeding and thought I wouldn't have a period for a while, but started again 2 weeks later and bled for 2 mths straight. I thought it was something postpartum so I didn't go to the doctor right away. Turned out I had an under active thyroid. I was hoping it was the temporary kind due to postpartum hormones, but it's the permanent kind and I am on medication forever now.
I never would have thought a thyroid problem would make you bleed..but it does. Anyhoo, something to look into.
