Default Day 2 - Please advise.

    Over share coming up!

I feel so gassy! Every time I swallow water there is a bubbling sensation in my stomach and lower esophagus. Whenever I move around it's like the worst gas pain in my belly. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I get gas-X or another OTC remedy?

Also! My doc prescribed Percocet tablets. They're huge!! I have to break them in half. I take 2 pills in a sitting, so that's 4 sips of water to get them down. My Prilosec is also a horse pill! I have this sensation like there is something stuck in my throat permanently.

Tomorrow I can start full liquids, but I don't feel confident yet. I haven't been throwing up a lot, but every now and again I will get a spasm and vomit up a little phlegm. I am not getting down even half of how much water I should be taking in.

Any advice would be deeply appreciated.

    Thanks, folks!

It will get better. I would ask the doc for his idea on gas pills. There is no getting around it they pump you full of it. Just walk as much as you can it helps get the gut moving again and gets some of the air going out. Make sure they are giving you nausea meds. I coughed up alot of phlegm and gunk after surgery as well, that fairly normal in my opinion your body is trying to get it out.
Honk if you want to see my finger !!

gas strips/ way better. I take lots of them a day. i think everyone gets that pain you are talking about we all did - on my day. you have to heal. lots going on in that sleeve now. I noticed to that the more pain meds and nausea meds the sicker it can make some people. hang in there.

I had my sleeve done on 12/11 and I also start getting bubbles when I start drinking. My stomach also rumbles the entire time I am eating but all of that stops not long after I quit drinking. I think this is just a new experience and may get better as time goes along.

Some people find water unpleasant the first few days/weeks after surgery. Adding flavor drops changes the water which makes it more tolerable. The first few days don't worry about getting all your water, just do your best. I am 3 months out and still struggling with getting enough fluids. I used sugar free jello and sugar free ice pops to add to my fluid intake. Soup was my best friend in the beginning and still is a good meal. Good luck, no one is perfect with protein or fluids.

Just hang in there... Every day it will get a little better. Life sucks the first few weeks and then gradually it gets better...

3 days out and I still have gurgling and gas. I am using gas-x strips, which help a lot. I was told to open my prilosec and put the granules in liquid or sprinkle on jello and eat, but I was told NOT to chew on the granules. You might ask your Dr. about this. Also, if you're having trouble getting in your fluids, you can try different temps. I had hard time with cold water, but hot herbal tea is heaven for my tummy! I read another sleever's post who did best on warm, not hot herbal tea. We are all different, and you have to find what is best for you. (Look at me, an expert after 3 days- not really, I'm just saying what's worked for me.) Good luck to you, and I hope you feel better soon!

Hi, I'm on day 4 and have an almost constant bubbling in my tummy, and it's very loud. Water isn't a big problem, but the stuff I have to put in the water makes its very Milky? I am a bit concerned about the gas, and really worry about following through. Any ideas would be greatly received.

    Today is day 5.
I've lost 10 pounds and everything is much better now.
I did end up using warm apple cider for my tummy. So much better!
I haven't really needed the Percocet tabs, since day 3. (although I had a rough night last night and may consider them a sleeping aid)
I confess, I haven't taken my Prilosec since day 2. I'll get on it.

Generally, I'm no longer kicking myself for making this choice Feeling a lot more energetic.

    Thanks for the support everyone!

Hey...we are on the same seat. Feeling pretty good. However day after being released from the hospital on Thursday I bust a stitch and the nurses instructed me to just put some Neosporin on it and keep it bandaged. So that is what I'm doing even though it's still happening every day but only happen once a day. I'm able to catch it before it goes to full hemorrhaging. All in all I'm feeling pretty good.
