    Default my journey is beginning

Hello. today I went for my informational pre-op day. My surgery is scheduled for December 9, 2010. I am very excited but honestly nervous about the mental part of eating. This could be a very good source of support for me. I am in my mid 50's, happily married, and looking for a healthier way to live.

    Hi to both
The most difficult is to teach our brains that we can't eat as we used anymore...Just yesterday I was worried because I felt that I am eating more than at the very begining (I had surgery back in August) so I wrote my doctor and he said that it is normal you are able to eat a little more food as time goes by. What we need to do is eat slowly and stop once you start feeling full to avoid over eating.
Also my advice is try to keep busy because when we are overweight we usually eat when we have nothing to do or when we are under stress or bored so if we keep ourselves busy we will not be thinking about eating.
It's all about learning to have a different type of relationship with food....but that's the hard part

I ordered protein bullets online for when I get home for recovery, each one is 42 grams of protein and 180 calories,I tried the watermelon,it is thick and syrupy,I found that when I mixed it with crystal light,it was great........I ordered a variety pack of flavors.

Hello I have only just found out about the gastric sleeve op. I am 38 and always had a weight problem my bmi is 35 but I emotionaly eat. I know I have got to do something because I am getting bigger each year but I am worried if I had something like this its not going to fix the physcological reasons why I over eat and then if I want to binge what happens? Also how much can you eat once you have had the op, and as your doctor said you can eat more in time so would you be able to go back to normal eating? sorry for all the questions but I would seriously consider this if I thought it was to work. Can you get it on the nhs?
    thanks

Hey Dani! I had my surgery on Oct. 11th. Before surgery. I could eat a large Pizza by myself in a couple of hours. Last night my family ordered a Large Pizza from Papa Johns. I ate one Slice, and didnt even eat the crust and I was stuffed. Last week I fixed a bowl of cereal. I could'nt finish it. (and I really wanted too) My four year old sone and 130lb girlfriend both eat more than I can. I get full so fast after very little food, that eating has turned boring for me. I usually find myself sitting there waiting for my son and gf to finish eating. Hope this was helpful.
