I intentionally have not had any carbonated beverages for over 2 years now. I stopped that when I began the pre-op process a couple months before my surgery that occurred on 10/29/2012. However, recently I went to a bridal shower and took a drink of what I thought was lemonade. It turned out to be carbonated lemonade punch. I didn't think about it until I swallowed it. Strangely, I didn't feel anything drastic. I felt a little bit of subtle gurgling deep in my stomach but felt nothing in my esophagus. I remember this girl giving her testimony at a seminar and she said she tried to take a drink of coke after her surgery and that it gurgled up into her esophagus and was extremely uncomfortable. I was just wondering why I didn't feel that way...
For those of you who have tried carbonated beverages after surgery, what has been your experience?
By the way, I have no intention of going back to drinking carbonated beverages, but was just wondering if I should have felt very uncomfortable after drinking the punch or if anyone else has had the same result as I did.
Thanks!
Rhonda
