    Default Wedding Shower...What to do?

So I have a bridal shower coming up and noone really knows about my surgery. I know this is what I want and dont want anyones opinion (negative that is). A friend of my brothers had the gastric bypass and they talk about him all the time behind his back so I know how they feel about it.

Any who...the question is what do I do? I'm aloud fruits and vegetables with my pre op diet. I'm hoping for a salad, fruit salad or maybe even green beans. I think I'm going to have to break down and tell them. There so nibby and there will be so many questions.

    What do you think?

Eyes should be on the Bride-To-Be...If you don't behave in a self-conscience manner, nobody will be watching your plate...Besides, everybody is concerned about their diet before a wedding!

If you are not comfortable don't tell them. Explain you are recovering from an upset stomach and not much appeals to you right now. No one is going to ask those details :-)

Especially on the pre-op diet dont even worry about it. IF they know you at all they will know you have tried many diets (or you wouldnt be here now). so I dont think anyone will be surprised if you just say you are trying a new diet. Or just dont say anything - with a wedding there is plenty of stuff to talk about. Just take small bites and chew thoroughly and talk a lot (cant chew then and you will be at the table the same amount of time as them and wont finish your food too soon, etc. Unless you call attention to it, I doubt anyone else will .

The shower is about the bride. When it comes time to eat just put a small portion on your plate. Eat slowly and play with the fork pushing the food on your plate. Don't make food the focus of the shower. If you hold a glass of water with a lemon or a lime who's to say that you are not having a drink? In other words concentrate on the event and not the eating. You don't have to tell anyone about the surgery....but when you have your surgery and the weight loss becomes noticable people will ask. Be prepared.

This was the best thing I ever did for myself!!!

I agree no one will notice and if they do they will just think you are dieting. This whole issue is one of my pet peeves if an alcoholic or drug addict goes in for treatment everyone applauds and give words of encouragement but if someone with weight issues who decides that they need help they get "comments" You should hold your head up with pride! You have a problem and have taken control and are actively taking the steps to correct it. WLS is no some easy walk in the park it is work.
