happy surgery day!! After surgery you will realize that the food is secondary to losing weight and being healthy
I am taking Nexium once a day for the heartburn. I have it horribly. I have an iPhone and downloaded a timer app and set it for every 15 minutes. When it goes off I take 5-6 sips of water then reset the timer for another 15 minutes. I am doing better with getting my water intake in. I found right after surgery the cold felt nice so a lot of otter pops and now warm feels good so a lot of broth. Please let me know if you have any other questions I will be happy to share any tricks I use.
Thanks and good luck with your new journey!
Laura
Best thing for me was sipping water from a straw, not sure why a straw made it easier, G2 Gatorade (sugar free ) was nice too. Also, acid reflux meds was mandatory for first month, if u don't have meds you need them, then taper off, I was able to go completely off by about 6-7 weeks, some peoe take much longer.

Ask me if I miss eating the way I used to eat, yes I miss not worrying that I eat to much and get sick. Do I miss the 117 pounds that I lost? I can adapt to the new eating life style. Carrying that weight around made the quality of my life suck. I now feel great and have a much higher self esteem. So my choice was do not have the surgery and have a miserable future and life just so I can eat as much and what ever I want or have the surgery and live the life of normal people and hopefully live to see my grandchildren grow up. To me the decision was a no brainer. Don't know many people that have regrets.
