Hi everyone
i was wondering about sugar intake after the sleeve. Is it completely banned for life?? if so, why??
Also am i allowed 2 drink flavored teas (with raspberry, strawberry, vanilla) after the surgery during the all liquid phase?
Thanks
You can use Equal or Splenda, you can even bake w/ the latter, but you really should be focusing on changing your behavior/diet long term for the best results of your surgery.
More than anything you need to get enough protein into your body. Most people find this enough of a challenge that there's no room/desire left (remember this surgery takes out the ghrelin or hunger hormones) to try eating anything else.
oh i know , i already bake with splenda & sweet'n'low. i just can't find crystal lite where i live that easily, so i wanted to make popsicles for the all liquid phase using Tang (at 52 calories per tbsp). I don't have a sweet tooth (thank god) & i even hate sodas i'm just concerned about making popsicles for the liquid phase
Walmart.com: Crystal Light On The Go Wild Strawberry Energy Drink Mix, 10 ct, 6 Pack: Beverages

When it comes to flavored tea's - my nutritionist says we need to steer clear of caffeine in the beginning - I'd suggest Crystal Light tea as bobbybegood has suggested via walmart.com.

My nutrionist says anything with 15g of sugar or less is ok for the liquid phase. If you can't get crystal light...I was told to delute fruit juice with water. IE if there is 60 g of sugar in the juice per 8 oz serving. Put 2 oz of juice and 2 oz of water and freeze for popciles.
Good luck
No, you are not banned from sugar eternally after the sleeve. It won't make you sick. I had a bite of candy here and there and I was fine. Like with everything else, you have to control it, not every day or even every week. Your tastes do change, I have experienced that. Crystal Light does have ice tea. My dr. said it was ok for me to have diet Snapple. Their diet peach tea is awesome! They have various flavors. I buy it by the 12 pk. I also make my own ice tea with decaf tea bags by the gallon. I use Walmart's version of splenda in it. It's $4.74 for a large bag, where it's about $8 at the grocery store. Hope this helps and I wish you much success!
