I'm also 62. I feel better than I have in years. I wish I'd have know about this surgery years ago. I will be a grandma for the first time in Oct. I'm so glad I will be healthy for her/his arrival. I was in good health pre-surgery, aka, no meds, but my weight kept me from doing so many things. I'm down almost 60lbs. now and lovin' it!
    I ♥ my sleeve!!!

I will be 62 in June. I had my sleeve surgery almost 3 years ago, May 2, 2011. When you are that old, it's not about how you look in a swimsuit---it's about health! Like everyone says, it is the best thing I have ever done for myself!
I will be totally honest with you--- I have not exactly been "rocking my sleeve" as they say on here for the last two years. In year 1, I lost 120 pounds, got completely off all my diabetes meds (5 of them!) and the meds for diabetic neuropathy in my feet and legs. In year 2, I was real good about going to the YMCA, exercising and weight training, but I didn't lose any more. This 3rd year, I have put back on about 20 pounds---I have been eating whatever I want (not near as much of it as I used to!) and been very lax about going to the Y. So, I am not exactly a role model, LOL! BUT I am still feeling 1000% better than I did 4 years ago, and I can get down on the ground and play with my grandkids (and, more importantly, get back up again!).
I know I have stretched my sleeve out some, but it's still nowhere near the size of my old stomach. I hope to lose some more weight, and I will get back to eating right and exercising regularly, but if I never lost another pound, I am still SO much better off than I was before the sleeve.
So, here I am, approaching 62, and I feel like I'm about 42! Whereas, 4 years ago, I was so morbidly obese, that it felt more like I was 92! I'm still a fat lady, and I'll never be a hardbody, but I'm healthy and happy. What more could anyone want?
So, I say, "GO FOR IT, CBREEZE!" You deserve to be healthy and happy, too!

So many people wish they'd gotten sleeved earlier. There's another way to look at this, at any age. There was the bypass and the lap band, with their complications, and then someone invented and then perfected the sleeve. And we have the forum with all these experienced people to show us the way, too. This was the perfect time to be sleeved!

Not because you have to pay it forward or backward to justify your own benefits. She means that this is YOUR accomplishment, and accomplishing that for yourself is enough. You do not have to fix everybody. And you do not owe anyone for the benefits you have earned. They are YOURS!" Ann2

I'm 30 days out and was almost 65 when I had the surgery. No after effects except for a little gas pain in my shoulder for 10 days and one episode of dizziness which was very shortlived. I had my one month checkup with my surgeon yesterday and he is delighted with my progress. I too was very worried about my age but my fears were unfounded. Good luck to you.

I was sleeved at 65 yrs young. Very happy to have it done. I went through more than the "youngins" because my doctor insisted I go through physical therapy before surgery. I had already done Bariatric boot camp with no problems. I exercise 3-4 times a week at the gym also. Have the surgery it will do you wonders. God Bless...Mem

I am 70 and tomorrow it will be two months since I had the sleeve! My biggest concern was my age, but everything went very well. My Dr.said his oldest patient was 78. I walked around the room as soon as they brought me back and walked the hall in the hospital several times that night. I wasn't in great physical shape because I despise exercise so much! Our mental attitude is so important and the 27 lbs. I have lost is inspiring me to get on an exercise program and stick with it! This next decade is gonna be good! Your age is just a number! Everything that you have experienced to get to this age is what makes you the person you are today. Go for it! Good luck!!

Hi cbreeze. I am 61 and had the surgery on March 10th. I am doing fine and I know you will too. Everything will go well for you. No, you are not nuts to want to live a long and healthy life. I am eating food now and walking and exercising. Don't worry. Peace and blessings to you.

    HI cbreeze!

Congrats on your decision and good luck with your journey to wellness.

I'm 61 and decided last week to make a change in my life. I'm flying to Tijuana from Canada by myself at the end of this month.

Nothing is nuts about making this decision to improve the rest of your life!

I'll be watching your progress and cheering you on!
