Default Can I just say how much I really dislike protein shakes?

Every morning I think that there is no way I can choke another one of these nasty things down, but the next morning I do it all over again. I've tried numerous kinds and the Atkins Advantage seem to be the easiest for me to get down, but it is still a struggle. I'll be so glad when I can finally swap to protein bars. Anyone else feel like this?? On a brighter note, I'm down 37 lbs from the day I started my pre-op diet, which was 5 weeks ago yesterday. For that kind of success I guess I can choke down another shake...blah!

I have tried many different shakes but the one I like the most is ISO Sensation. I bought it at Popeyes in the Vanilla Bean flavour. I blend it with ice and frozen fruit so it changes the flavour and its like a smoothie. They have different flavours too,

uhhh! I am right there with you. I bought the "Nectar" stuff and it was even worse than the Premier Protein. I've tried a few different things and decided the regular shakes are the easiest to choke down if I just get them done as soon as possible.

    This too shall pass.

My doctor told me I can drop the protein shakes once I can add baked fish to my diet as long as I'm getting all the protein I need via food. I'm excited because they are nasty.

You should be able to start substituting real sources of protein now or pretty soon depending on your Doctor's post op orders. I still can't eat a whole poached egg, but it is much better than a protein shake.

I'm eating lots of different soft foods already, but just can't eat enough of them to get in enough protein. I'm allergic to fish, so that is marked off the list...

I still can't eat eggs in any way they are fixed. I have tried over and over and they just don't settle with me. The only shakes I love and I can say absolutely love is the ProCal100 shakes. I get he chocolate and mix with water and it taste just like chocolate milk. They come in packets so its easy to take with me and mix in a bottle of water. I also get the health wise protein bars. Love them

I love my protein shake. I have been drinking them once or twice a day for over 2 years. I use Beachbody Whey Protein, the chocolate one. I add heavy cream, lite chocolate syrup, 1" of a banana and 1/4 cup of strawberries. I only use water with it. It tastes like melted chocolate ice cream. It really does!

Hi! The only protein shake I can stand is this mixture and I have it every morning (50g of Protein to start the day). I take 6oz of Unsweetened Almond milk, 6oz of Water (Sometimes I add a little decaf coffee too), One scoop of GNC Unflavored Whey Protein (25g), One Scoop of Isopure Zero Carb Protein Powder Vanilla (25g), One TBSP of Unsweetened Cocoa Powder, (2 tsp. of Cinnamon) (You can use any flavoring, powder, fruit, etc.. to taste), then I add about 5-6 ice cubes. I Blend all of this in my Blentek Blender every morning and sip on it throughout the morning while I am taking most of my morning vitamins. It starts out my day with 50grams of Protein and at least 14-16 oz of fluids. I am not a fan of pre-made Protein shakes because they are just too sweet for me. Experiment with various flavors and change it up to suit your needs. Your weight loss so far is amazing! Great Job and Good Luck!!!!!!

Take you protein drink and put it in a shaker cup with a teaspoon of sugar free pudding mix. It dramatically improves the taste. Also, your taste will change. I drank one protein drink when I got sleeved and swore I would never drink another. It was such a struggle. Now I love them! I drink the Premier Protein Chocolate. I recently went on a few days liquids because I was stalled so long. Three protein drinks a day with a small protein based dinner, and I dropped 9 pounds in 4 days after being stalled since last December. Those suckers are really important!! Good Luck!

i hate protein anything!! and i found a pre made protein drink at GNC its called lean, in a light blue and white bottle. the only flavor i liked was chocolate, i was able to drink them for about a month before i couldn't take it any longer. And i know that is gets expensive but i also go to tropical smoothie and get one of theirs a few times a week. they taste so much better than mine do.

I am about 2.5 YEARS post op and I STILL drink a protein shake almost every morning. I will agree that I could never find one that I liked that was a pre-made version but I found one that I could make that I absolutely loved and still love. Tastes like a milkshake... a very tasty one at that. Contents of my smoothie: 5.3oz of Chobani greek yogurt with fruit 0%... (12 gm protein / 19 carbs)... 1/2 cup Almond Milk (15 cal)... Unjury vanilla protein powder 1/2 scoop (10 gm protein)... must order over the internet.... 2 pkg of Sevia Extract (Pure Via - avail in your grocery store)... and about 1/2 cup of ice. I put this all in my BULLET blender (with special ice crusher blade)... and YUM!!! I rotate between various fruit flavors... There are other options such as chocolate/PNB etc. I have found that when I drink these drinks, I am far more likely to be able to maintain my weight. They are very good... very filling... and have the protein needed to keep hunger at bay. Its critical to get a good dose of Protein for breakfast to hold off hunger during the day. Good luck!

BEST tasting protein shakes I found was Plexus 96. They have a chocolate and a vanilla but the vanilla actually tastes like cake batter to me which is good since I have been craving so many sweets since going on this liquid diet. I actually signed up to get wholesale pricing but it's not expensive at all and well worth the money! Home - My Plexus Opportunity
