I have not had it done but I am 90% sure I will be having it done next month. I had the sleeve 3 years ago and after only 6 months my sleeve stretched back out and i regained the weight. Are you planning on having the revision done?
Yes, I had the gastric sleeve done in Newport Beach in 2012 and paid $16,000 CASH and my stomach has stretched out. I feel I was ripped off. I haven't gained all the weight back but I'm on an upward spiral and want to get a handle on it before it gets completely out of control. The thought of having it done in Tijuana is a scary thought. I feel like we will be treated as a puppy at a veterinarian Clinic lined up to get spayed or neutered. The poor puppy hops on the assembly line, has no say as to what happens when he /she enters the doors as there is a language barrier and you just hope the best happens and the dog awakens in the end :-/
Then again, the cost factor is $3,799 all inclusive....Where do I sign ?!?
What are you thoughts on the matter?
Which doctor are you considering?
I am considering Doctor Mario Almanza
I'm also going to get resleeved. I was sleeved 9/08/11 by Dr. Almanza. I was 272 preop 3 months later I was 205. Then I got really sick & ended up in a wheelchair for 6 months! So I started gaining the weight back. I got up to 246... now I am 235 but I'm stuck here. I'm going back to Almanza for resleeve. I went to Dr. Quinnones for resleeve & gallbladder removal but he did nothing!!!! I had no restriction whatsoever post op. I wish I just went back to Dr. Almanza. I wasted $4500.
OMG Girl, I am so sorry you got sick an was confined to a wheel chair. I feel for you. Did the sleeve have any thing to do with you getting sick? PLease help me understand WHY, WHY, WHY, you had you Gallbladder removed? I see a lot of Dr Almanza patients have their gallbladder removed at the same time...umm, REALLY? Don't get me started...
Thank you for that info. Only doing 4 patients a day is reassuring that he is not operating a dog and cat clinic, if you know what I mean. I will definitely check out Dr. Ortiz. I want to get this surgery done this month hopefully to get it over with. Thinking about it just stresses me out :-/
Hope you are well. Your weight will start magically falling off but expect about 30 pounds a month at the most...I'm just being real
Most people that have there gall bladder out is due to being over weight. Not the Doctor. And there are Doctors in Mexico that only do 2 to 3 surgery's a day. It's all on what you want to pay for. Different programs for different people. My experience was not like that AT all. Good Luck
I still don't understand the reason to remove the gallbladder? They are asking me if I want hat option? What? Where? Um? I have no idea the reason to remove my gallbladder other than to sell it to a broker...for real???
When someone loses weight rapidly, it tends to cause painful gallbladder issues which results in removal. I dont know this surgeon, but he sounds like he's trying to save people a second surgery. But that's just my theory. We don't need our gallbladder so there wouldn't be a "black market" demand. Lol.
soon2belessofme you are right! The gallbladder cannot keep up with the rapid weight loss. I wish I knew then! I sure would've gotten mine out! I'm having it removed March 24 here @ home. My health insurance is paying for it. I was scheduled to get it removed during my re-sleeve but they can now deduct that $1,000!
Hi I haven't had the surgery yet and it is depressing to hear that it seems so easy to stretch the stomach after the op. You say you feel ripped off, can I ask the circumstances of what went wrong, is it that just after a while you can eat like you did before? Sorry not meaning to be rude but it is good to hear the other side of the story as most posts on here are all the yay I have lost heaps of weight stories. Thanks
Yes, this is a common concern for pre-sleeved people...hearing stories like this. After much reading on this forum, I've decided it would be best to lose what I can post op on my own, do the 2weeks liquid and let the sleeve do the magic. But there's no way the sleeve will do it all. It's a great part of a jump start, but we have more responsibility than we sometimes realize going in.
"Lee, by "own it!" your daughter means that you should be proud of your accomplishment and understand that you deserve this. Not because you have to pay it forward or backward to justify your own benefits. She means that this is YOUR accomplishment, and accomplishing that for yourself is enough. You do not have to fix everybody. And you do not owe anyone for the benefits you have earned. They are YOURS!" Ann2
