Well folks, I'm at 5 weeks now. I'm pretty much on solids but taking very tiny bites and chewing well. I seem to be able to tolerate most foods. Still haven't tried an apple yet. I will come 2nd month.
So far, so good. I got on the scale today and was 141.5. Down from 160Lb. since surgery with my lapband removed.
I actually like this surgery. I have so much energy and I can eat quite a bit considering I just had 75% of my stomach removed.
I don't eat junk food though. On election day I baked tons of cookies to sell for my political organization. I ate all the broken ones but still gained no weight. I thought I would definately put on at least 2 lbs.
I love to cook. always have. Why is it us chubby chick's are the best cooks. LOL!!! Could that explain our problem with food? Anyhow I wasn't cooking for a while because I had no desire for a while after surgery but I started up again. Hubby says I'm still a good cook. This makes me happy that I didn't lose it because I love to cook & bake although now I'll do it as a skinny person.
Let me say to all you bandsters this is a much better surgery than the band. And I do have my youthful energy back. I'm 52 and feel 40 or younger.
With the band I was sleepy and always tired on top of that my coloring was off. No vomitting or acid reflux issues.
I ate out at Taco Bell today for lunch. I treated myself to an .89 weight loss taco. It was pretty good. It was all I could eat. I took an unsweetened ice tea and put splenda in it. I carry splenda in my car in case I order unsweet ice tea while I'm out. I stay away from carbonated beverages.
I'm very happy with the surgery and glad with my decision. I'll post more as the weeks go by. Lorna
