Static electricity?

I feel very silly asking this - but has anyone else dealt with some seriously excess static electricity since surgery? I know it's winter and I'm sure that has a bit to do with it, but I've never had it as bad as this. My pets won't come near me because every time I touch them we both get shocked Lol. I'm shocking everything and everyone and my hair looks like I stuck my finger in an electrical socket if I don't use some serious hair spray to glue it down.

Anyone else?

Yes!!! I thought it was just me. But every time I touch something " electric" like light switches, I shock myself. Wonder what is the cause??

I thought it was only me. My poor cat won't ever get in my lap. And hair is out of control!

Yes, I noticed it too. I don't know if its less fluids in our bodies or what. Here is an crazy example, in the winter I practice my putting(golf) in the house, chipping too. So when I walk with the club in my hand and touch a heat register with the club I even get a spark at the end of the club when it touches something metal, now that is some serious electricity I am generating, lol.

Yes, me too. I thought it was just a fluke yesterday when I had multiple experiences touching light switches.

I'm glad I'm not alone but I'm sorry you guys are dealing with this too!!

I decided to do some research. Apparently one of the causes of static electricity is dry skin. I know that my skin is pretty dry because of less fluids than I used to drink pre-surgery. Looks like you're onto something, Mike1! I feel like I remember hearing about anti-static moisturizer at some point from someone...need to find this and see if it works!

In the mean time, at least now we have a defense against any idiots we may encounter.

The other day I was telling my coworker about this static issue and she started making fun of me (with love) so I reached over and shocked her arm. Only a few weeks in and I'm already using my powers for evil!

I actually shut down my laptop the other day after shocking it when I went to grab it! So weird! I thought I fried the damn thing!

I have a 130lb long coat Akita. The other day I bent over to great him and our noses touched and the spark that was generated made us both yelp.

LOL my husband got the static. I don't know how because he didn't have the surgery but ever since my surgery he zaps everything. The dogs, me, everything. I thought it must be our dryer sheets. Now I am wondering osmosis?

I have bee having a terrible time with static electricity, to the point that I now search out metal items as I walk to discharge the electricity before it gets bad. It never occurred to me that it was related to my surgery - what a great resource this group is. Thank you Megan for posting this thread.... and let that be a lesson to all of us to talk about all our weird symptoms so that we can find out that we are not alone!
