Smile Is anyone else experiencing this???

Hi, everyone. I'm really hoping to get some feedback on what I'm experiencing. I am 5 days post op and for the most part doing ok. Still have some pain from one of my incisions but for the most part, I can get around. Now, my main issue is I have this constant discomfort in my stomach that doesn't go away unless I drink something. So, I'm pretty much drinking all the time to avoid the discomfort. I thought it was gas and have been taking the Gas X Strips to try and help but It does only so much for a short time though. Have anyone else experienced this or know what it is? Will it eventually stop? I hope so. Kind of annoying.

You may need a PPI like Prilosec or Pepcid. It may be acid. A great many of us are still on PPI's or took them for a while post surgery until the acid bubbling died down.

Some doctor's give a prescription. I did over the over-the-counter meds and it was fine.

Your stomach is still swollen. It will eventually go away. I thought it would never stop.

You need to take a PPI/ something like Pepcid for 3 months to help the suture line of the stomach heal. you would want to do this even if you weren't having the discomfort. Feel better soon

I experienced something similar, started taking Milk of Magnesia and got a prescription for Omeprazol from my PCP also, both helped. I also had the feeling that my stomach was really swollen, almost like a balloon was in my body and if I bent over too far it would pop. I just didn't bend on my left side! Now, at 4 weeks, 22 days, post op - that feels better and I have stopped taking the Milk of Magnesia. Still take the Omeprazol every morning with my vitamins.
