Default Starting on regular food and suddenly I am so nauseous!

I did great after surgery, no nausea, well managed pain, and overall I am thrilled with my surgery. However, in the last few days since I started eating "regular" foods (not pureed) I have been nauseous 24/7. I really hope this is a phase that will pass, I saw my surgeon yesterday and he said to not go back to pureed, that I needed to eat "solid" food now, and that I should be eating 3x a day AND drinking my 2 protein shakes AND 4 bottles of water. So I am trying to follow directions and do what he tells me, and I am hoping the nausea passes quickly.

I just had surgery and the zofran or phenegren anti-nausea suppositories work well. I wonder if he will write you a script to get your body through this advancement of diet.

Actually, I have that, they gave it to me for after surgery but I just put it away and forgot about it. I've never used a suppository before but I am totally willing to try it at this point! Thanks for the reminder Jessica!!

I hope you get to feeling better soon.
I get to start solid foods tomorrow. I am a little bit nervous because I had some weird 24 stomach bug yesterday.

Take the anti-nausea meds. They will help you move to the next phase. It will pass evenutally.

I took the phenagren last night and it worked great! I am going to keep taking it for a few days and then see how it goes. So happy I had something that helped!

Do you notice any cramps or anything with eating the regular food? Or does it go down pretty easy? (Other than the nausea)

Often times you will be sensitive to foods you never had a problem with before. I would recommend trying one food at a time. There will be some that you may simply not be able to tolerate any more. I have several of these myself so I know first hand. Definately take the nausea med. I took every last drop in those two huge bottles they gave me and was glad every day. I will say that it does get better.

I got a rx for Zofran. It really, really does help. You may need to experiment with foods to find something that you can tolerate. Several people here are months out and still struggle with things like chicken, eggs, etc.

Also, I was told, Zofran works well, but it works BEST if you take it BEFORE the nausea hits. Phenergan, on the other hand, works well for nausea when you currently have it. Zofran, not so much. It's best to take before you experience nausea. So maybe if you got some, you could take it a bit before you eat? It may help you.

This is EXACTLY what I'm experiencing but my DR said that iam really dehydrated is why I'm nauseous....I'm miserable right now, my food doesn't come back up but it feels like it and it's around the clock she told me to go back to liquids for just a few days. I'm just confused because I was fine up until now and I'm almost six weeks out.
