I can't sleep
I feel nauseous
I'm in pain
I can keep anything down
I keep feeling like I have to vomit...and it hurts my stomach so bad when I gag...
This is day 3 post-op
I'm ready for some relief and sleep
I think I'm getting dehydrated
I felt exactly like you did on my first day. Like everyone has said sip, sip, sip on water. Every few minutes, take a sip of water. Are you taking pain meds? take your meds, they will help you tremendously. My heart goes out to you because I know the feeling. If it gets too bad, call your surgeon because they can prescribe something for you. Feel better!
Don't give up! Just tell yourself it takes time. I was so sick for the first 8 weeks. My surgery was a revision, and I ended up having a stricture <sp> at 3 weeks. I was not getting enough protein and I stayed dehydrated. 8 weeks to the day after my surgery it was like a light switch was flipped. I felt amazing. I've never regretted the surgery, even during all that I went through, I just kept telling myself the recovery time will pass.
You need to call your doctor if you are in pain and you cannot keep anything down. Because although some pain is not out of the question for some people, the other is. You have to be able to get fluids in you.
I felt like you. I cried and was in pain and kept saying "What have I done to myself. What have I done to my body!". Then, little by little, I started feeling better. Try to sip one to two ounces of water ever 15 minutes. I literally set a timer to do this. You do NOT want to end up back in the hospital from being dehydrated.
Just get rest, sip, and try to keep the pain under control. If you have pain meds, take them. If not, call your doctor to get some. I wouldn't have made it my first two weeks without them.
I promise you it gets better. Once you start to feel better, and start to see that scale move, you'll realize it was all worth it. Hang in there. This will pass.
I do hope you are feeling better. If you aren't call you surgeons office, you shouldn't suffer and you don't want to get dehydrated.
This is exactly how I was for a couple weeks after surgery. I wasn't in pain though. It gets better with time. Hope u feel better soon. I'm 6 weeks post-op now. Drink Gatorade... That's what I was told to do because the electrolytes will help keep u hydrated if you can't get water in very well. Don't worry about protein yet, just staying hydrated!
I'm sorry that you're feeling like this. Almost everyone has a little 'buyers remorse' a few days out. Right now don't worry much about anything but taking care of yourself. Don't worry too much about nutrition. Drink enough of whatever stays down to keep from being dehydrated, and rest. Your body has just been invaded and it will take time for it to heal. I can promise it'll get better, and a month from now look back on this post and compare how you feel now to how you feel then.
