working on scheduling surgery, but, question on flight post-surgery

I am considering the sleeve procedure - I have my consult with the surgeon tomorrow ... nervous and excited -


How long after surgery until you felt comfortable flying?

I had my sleeve done in the morning on May 29th of last year and left the hospital before noon on the 31st. I was by myself and took a (very bumpy) taxi ride from Juarez, Mexico to the airport in El Paso and flew to Miami that afternoon. I don't know if I would have thought that was a great idea had it not been planned out for me by someone else, based on what people had done in the past, but it really wasn't bad. I didn't have a direct flight, either (in the interest of saving money) so I had to make a tight connection, which I did with the help of a skycap and a wheelchair. Had I not been in any hurry, though, I could have gotten myself from Point A to Point B.

I'm not what anyone would consider tough, so if I can do it, anybody can. It would be even that much better if you have a direct flight and someone to go with you. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply ... it looks like with the scheduling times available, I will end up having about 3 weeks until I fly after my surgery ...

did you notice any energy concerns? I am not diabetic, but, if I don't eat regularly I can get a little hypoglycemic, and, that is something that worries me
