Default This is all new for me (Sharing)

    Hello,
I just joined today and wish I would have prior to my surgery. I am wonding if anyone after 3 weeks post-op had problems with stitches starting to poke out. At 1st it was only one incission however now another is doing it. At 1st i thought is was just a small piece of scab and tried to pull on it but it's not moving! I left it alone... It's not red or showing signs of infection so I was wonding if it will go away on it's own or should I try something?

    Thanks!

yes you can feel little ends poking out, give it a couple more weeks then you can pull it out (the rest inside will be dissolved). The ends like that are because your skin is shrinking away and it is no longer tucked under the skin where they tied it off. I've had multiple surgeries and it has happened with all of them.

Don't pull on it...it will drop off all its own. It's very normal.

I had several stick out and asked the PA at my surgeon's office. She pulled them out...ouch. I had a few more and I left them alone and they came out on their own without any pain. Leave them alone unless you see them getting red or oozing.

thank you all, that makes me feel so much better!

I have to say I have several friends and family that have had everything from gastric bypass, lap band and the gastric sleeve over the years. Though they are all very supportive I must admit in just a few hours, I feel so much more support on here. I can't thank you enough!
