Surgery by Dr. Mario Almanza at Jerusalem Hospital in Mexico

Has anyone had gastric sleeve performed Dr. Mario Almanza at Jerusalem Hospital in Mexico ? I am considering this as my insurance doesn't pay for gastric sleeve. Anyone ??

I would suggest Dr. Quinones over Dr.Almanza. Dr. Q only does top 3 surgeries a day and Almanza does 9 or 10. Please do your research as many people will not have many nice things to say about Dr. Almanza.

I had surgery March 18, 2013. With Dr Almanza. He was awesome. I have NOTHING negative to say about him. I am down 70 lbs and 9 pounds from goal.

I also had Dr Almanza and I have not had any problems. Also, I have not talked to anyone who did not like him....and I have talked with TONS of people on here. I agree though that he does a heavy load of patients per day though... as a nurse that had me worried... but like I said...I did fine. My daughter in law wants to have this surgery and I will be traveling to mexico with her to Dr Almanza to have it done in a few months. While I was there...two other patients I talked with were there with a family member that had the surgery also....repeat business speaks for itself.

I did. I had no problems and I would go back in a heartbeat if I had mysteriously regrown my stomach. LOL

I did and have no regrets and had no problems. I have recommended him to 3 friends and they too have had success journeys. I am below my goal weight and just had plastic surgery 12.19.13 that removed 11.2 lbs of skin (no fat) from my arms, stomach, back, and thighs. Bless you in your decision process. Dr. Almanza did my surgery at Jerusalem 2 years ago and I am truly one of the success stories! My goal was to lose 100 lbs. but have lost almost 90 and everyone is telling me enough already! I've gone from size 20's and XL to size 10 pants and small tops and for the first time in years I really enjoy shopping and "dressing up" for my husband! He tells me everyday how fabulous I look! The best part is that I've got my health back! I went from feeling like I had 1 foot in the grave - high blood pressure, sleep apnea, gerd, swelling in my feet and ankles, joints that felt 90 years old, no energy, huffing and puffing walking to the mail box - to fit and fabulous! I think the world of Dr. Almanza and his staff and Jerusalem Hospital! Best thing I've EVER done for myself hands down! It's NOT the easy way out...it takes dedication and a new life's resolution but the result has been worth every struggle! ChaiDi

I went over two years ago, I was a solid 230# and only had asthma as a comorbid. In other words I was just fat. I had no problems with surgery/ recovery at the house or at home. Now if I had a lot of co-morbids like diabetes, sleep apnea,CAD, any heart problems for that matter, and was way heavier (300#) to start I probably would have gone to a true hospital for a more though monitoring. Remember this place JH is located in a strip mall, it provided what worked for me. Just do some good research. Don't go on price alone. Good Luck I love my sleeve and what it has done for me.

I have been researching more and my only concern is some feedback saying the clinic is in a strip mall and very small. I have also read some feedback about not being able to get in touch with anyone after the surgery is finished. I know that it doesn't matter how good something is you are going to find someone who will have a negative experience. I have also checked into Dr Lopez with Specialized Bariatrics. It is more of a hospital verses clinic and they asked a lot more health questions than Almanza which makes me feel a little better. DR Ortiz would be my first choice I believe but his cost is $2300 more. I know that it is my health but I am paying cash. Anyone have any dealings with Dr Lopez ?

A lighter me has Dr.Ortiz and they are a little less than that other dr. Ortiz and have a great success record and really good coordinators. I've been dealing with Mrs. Rhonda who gives you guidance like a mother she is soooooooo awesome and its in a hospital, then you go to a hotel. But I am going with them so far, I missed the December price 4200 same as almanza now its I believe 4600. Call her and ask a question or two it surely wont hurt1-801-787-2856. Jackie I had my surgery with him on 12/9/2013 and went alone I have done great If I had questions I called once ii got home and they called me right back in less then 10 min and helped me threw all I have lose 48 lbs and done great

Hello sspiers and welcome to the forum! I had my surgery with Dr. Sergio Quinones in Tijuana on January 12, 2013 and it was the nest decision I could have made. I would and do strongly recommend Dr. Quinones to anyone who is considering weight loss surgery in Mexico. Dr. Quinones only performs 3 surgeries daily, they are performed in a private hospital. I am sure Dr. Almanza is a fine surgeon but the more I did my research I came to realize that
Dr. Quinones was my best option in Tijuana. Many people don't know about Dr. Quinones because he chooses not to advertise, 90% of Dr. Quinones patients come from other patient referrals.
