Default Question to post sleevers done in Mexico

I was talking with someone and they said there was some extra fees tacked on with Dr Almanza. I know about gall ladders and unseen hernias but what other costs. I want to be prepared. I'm paying out of pocket so it concerns me. I have prepared a checklist for it and me I'm worried.

I typed all of this once and somehow it disappeared! ugh...

For $300 they offer "peace of mind" insurance. If anything happens within those 3 months and u need to be seen by Dr. Almanza they pay all your expenses to get there and back.

For $100 they offer to be the 1st surgery with a private room.
    OR
For $100 they offer to be the 2nd surgery with a private room and your guest can stay with you over night at the hospital.
    OR
For $100 they offer to be the 3rd surgery, no private room though.

They offer extra medicines to bring home. Prices I don't really remember.

Umm... They offer a fast pass back across the border for $20 extra. (I think it was $20, may have been $25)

Hope this helps. I just had surgery there Dec. 4th. Best decision EVER!!!

They have several things you can buy but don't have too. You can purchase insurance, a restaurant card that says you have had bariatric surgery and if they will let you order off the child's menu, diet pills, extra meds (pain, sleeping pills, anti nausea, b-12 shots, an extra week of anti-biotics). They also offer massages, hair styling, and mani and pedi. You can also purchase your x-Ray for $25. Oh and one last thing is that they offer a fast pass for the return trip across the border that let's you use the medical lane which takes about 20 minutes to cross instead of going with the other traffic which can take 3 or 4 hours. That costs $20 for a single person or $35 for a couple. You also pay $55 for the first night in the hotel. I'm not sure what it is if you have someone with you because I went alone. Then there is always tip money for the drivers and bell hops. I think that is about it. Most of it is not needed but there were a few things I got. I really recommend the fast pass(we made it across in about 15 minutes) and that was so worth it. Everyone was super nice down there but I was by myself and I was ready to come home and sure didn't want to wait 3-4 at the border.

That sounds like quite a variety of services. You can get your hair done and buy diet pills? Sounds interesting to say the least

I had to cross the border back to San Diego, and even with the medical pass it took at least 2 hours. Weekends are bad - at least going from Mexico to the US side. I am sure it would have taken much longer without the pass (with Dr. Lopez you aren't charged for this) but it was still bad enough I missed my flight. If you can manage to schedule for any time you want, I would avoid leaving Mexico on a Saturday.

Things have changed in the 2 years since I went there! The only extra charge when I went was the xray! We went in the medical lane no charge! And when I went they still had the recovery house, so no hotel charge. I guess I was lucky!

Best of luck to you! I still consider it the best thing I ever did for myself.

My surgical coordinators have left soooo much to be desired. None of this was ever mentioned.
