Self Pay Norfolk VA - willing to travel but want to stay in US

Hello,

I have decided on the sleeve surgery but don't meet the criteria for insurance so will be self pay. The doctor/group I would like to use in Norfolk, VA charges $18,500 plus office visits, program fee, lab and xray fees, etc. Probably closer to $20,000 total. I am willing to travel in the US to a doctor that is less expensive with a good reputation. Any suggestions?

Have you tried MCV/VCU in Richmond? I'm not a self pay, but I think they are about $4,000 cheaper. It's Dr. Kellum. Let me know if it works out. Good luck!

I did self pay in Louisiana and paid 9800. That is probably too far away for you but it will give you a price for comparison. I did mine as an outpatient so that includes to surgery center fee, but no overnight in hospital. Also included all my followup appointments. I hope you can find someone good in your area for a comparable price. The idea of having all my followup care provided by the surgeon who performed the surgery was important to me.
